Comfort or fashion (over 50's women)
Comments (33)oklamoni, most jeans do suck, but I buy the stretch, and also prefer the elastic waistband. (not quit as fashionable) They are more comfortable though. Does anyone know what they call the shirts that are longer in the front & back? I can't find any, and us fluffy girls need that coverage. I just hate to shop for clothes! Oh, and forget the shoes, nothing fits, I have a short wide foot, most shoes are out for me. At least the nice looking ones....See MoreRules on shortening womens' pants!
Comments (4)i do alterations for a small clothing store for men and also for an alterations/formal wear rental establishment. I see hems all over the place. The under-35 crowd wears clothing that is closer-fitting than the older groups, and their pants and trou are narrower and shorter. One customer wears his trousers short enough to show off fashionable socks. Once the trouser hem measures less than 17 inches or so it isn't easy or practical to make the hem longer in the back. Those who nod to fashion rather than follow it are narrowing their pants and wearing them shorter, but not to the 15" hem width their younger friends are. There are still ladies who wear pants with heels and the pants cover the instep. Without heels there is still a break in the front, but much less than years ago. There are older folk who are fearful of falling, and have their pants quite short. Boss at the formal wear rental never ever subscribed to the "longer in back" philosophy (apprenticed in Asia, for what it's worth) and truthfully I can't remember the last time anyone asked for it. I've stopped hemming pants that way. We hem pants the same way they come to us: jeans are machine stitched, regular trou or pants with an invisible hem are blindstitched by machine or by hand....See MoreOf all things, I need fashion advice!
Comments (26)I would wear a statement necklace. You could go big, chunky. Or you could do V-shaped, or multi-strand, waterfall style. Just a few from Walmart. (Kohls and BonTon, if you have any near you) also have a nice selection of statement necklaces.) BBQ30 coupon code gives you 30% off at Kohls right now, til the 21st. http://www.walmart.com/ip/38463549?reviews_limit=5& http://www.walmart.com/ip/38463553?reviews_limit=5& http://www.walmart.com/ip/39405709?reviews_limit=5& http://www.walmart.com/ip/37651613?reviews_limit=5&action=product_interest&action_type=title&item_id=37651613&placement_id=irs-2-m1&strategy=PWVAV&visitor_id&category=&client_guid=f7e4e670-1850-4e52-a645-59911edc1787&customer_id_enc&config_id=2&parent_item_id=38438000&parent_anchor_item_id=38438000&guid=601d78a6-2278-4b7a-9994-c555803e25fd&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n...See MoreDress Pant Yoga Pants?
Comments (33)I can't find them online, but I recently bought several pairs of what Macy's advertised as 'leggings' but which are pretty close to what's being described/discussed here. They were in the regular sportswear-not activewear-department with all the other pants, ie not with the exercise clothes. Anyway, they are made of knit fabric, band waist and cut to fit snugly but extremely comfortably. They've got pockets on the back and came in both ankle length and a longer boot cut style. I bought several pairs and love them for work. I always wear a top untucked over slim fit pants anyway since I work in a generally business casual office (university advisor/admin), so they are perfect. The only problem I have is that I accidentally hemmed one pair inside out. So now they have cuffs which really isn't working for the look I'm going for LOL. Once I fix that, good to go....See MoreJudi
