Comments (15)NewHB: Thanks!! The flowers and herbs (both in pots and in the garden) have actually managed to stay alive this year -- thanks to slightly cooler (and now chilly! LOL!) temperatures around Dallas! The silk flowers in the large half-basket have been replaced with fall ones -- always a nice change! Of course the front door area is now filled with spooky Halloween decor! LOL!...See MoreExpectations of Kitchen Designers? (Interior designers?) – pls help
Comments (2)I think what you're running into is Kitchen Designers who are really Cabinet Salespeople. Did you ask if they are NKBA-certified (not a guarantee of a good designer, but it's a good first step)? So many KDs are really cabinet salespeople - they know a lot about their cabinet line(s), but not so much about good design. Did either ask you about your lifestyle, your family composition, your plans for the kitchen, etc.? If not, that's a red flag. Check the Layout help FAQ for the types of questions KDs should be asking you - and that you should be prepared to answer. How do I ask for Layout Help and what information should I include? If you cannot find a good KD, then I suggest starting the design process by posting your space here. We have several professional KDs as well as several talented amateurs who can help you. When you're happy with the layout, go back to the KDs and see what they have to say - both for cabinet specifics in their cabinet line(s) and pricing. If you do find a KD, then see what s/he comes up with. I would still come here and post the layout for additional critiquing. Between your KD and here, you should be able to come up with a functional layout and a nice looking space. Good luck!...See MoreOpinion/help/advice - exterior color
Comments (8)Here is your house with samples of tony taupe and accessible beige on it. Adding these colors seems to give your brick a cooler look. Hard to say with internet images and computer monitors. Can you take a good photo closeup of your brick to compare colors? The best thing to do is buy a couple of samples of the colors and paint up big samples on poster boards and look at them with your brick and garage doors to see how they look in natural light. In bright sunlight outdoors they could look completely different....See MoreNeeding advice on painting exterior brick
Comments (6)IMO the fastest way to devalue tyour home is to paint the brick. What oyu need is the right color of green to work with the brick remove the shutters , get anew front doot use this shade of green for the siding trim and garage door and then go to work on some reallly nice landscaping all of that will have a lot more impact on curb appeal than painting the brick. remove the brick "wall on th left too....See MoreA K
