Help with opinions on exterior color choice (Nichiha)
Comments (2)I love, love the color... I think 3 colors work generally work well together, but I'm leaning on not adding another color to the gables on your house. Are you going to be having shutters? If so, I'd add a third, really deep color there. I think if you posted your question in the decorating forum, you'd get a lot more help.. actually, there are talented ladies who may even photoshop the picture for you so that you can see both ways!...See MoreTudor exterior color help! need advice!
Comments (12)Hi, Megan-- Super-cute house. I think what stands out to me most is that the chimney is painted. Having a range of natural brick tones would add quite a bit of warmth that's expected in such a charming design. If the only part of your chimney that shows is what we can see, it wouldn't be difficult to sandblast the existing stack and restore it unpainted. That would go a long way toward warming this design back up and adding the right warmth that people love in half-timbered Tudor designs. I think you're on the right track with the toned window sashes in your addition, but the other main player here will be softening up the front impression with landscaping. Defining some brick accents there, too - whether edging a new pathway or creating some raised flowerbeds next to the house - would also help add depth and texture to this design. Cheers!...See MoreHelp Needed! Exterior home color advice
Comments (9)thank you for the thoughts - very much appreciate it!... I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks brown would look odd... the color on the house right now is a very, very light cream - - i think the picture is representing the color wrong right now, as it definitely doesn't have a pink hue... i'd say its a standard tan, with an even lighter, off-white trim color... my wife is insistent about not going all-white, with fear of how dirty it can and/or will get. however, the several comments about white do help make me feel better that i'm not the only one who doesn't think a dark color will work, and a light tan/cream will be the right choice. ultimately, i foresee us landing on something like the below photo, but hopefully with a little less yellow. it might be the common choice, but its tried and true and looks great, imho. https://cdn.jhmrad.com/wp-content/uploads/mediterranean-house-color-schemes-exterior-keboconstruction_152212.jpg...See MoreExterior thoughts, opinions, advice!!
Comments (6)Please lean into your house. It is built with great materials- Roman brick- and the ribbon bands to the right of the door are awesome as is the original ironwork. Please don’t try to make it a ‘cottage’. I would get a new modern front door, paint it and the ironwork aqua or teal to bring out the accent panel, and punch up the landscape a bit....See MoreCarolyn
