Have you ever had a panic attack?
Comments (37)Yes. I had them as a teenager, but didn't know that's what they were. I would feel like I couldn't breathe. I would go outside in the winter with no coat trying to get some air. Then they went away. Fast forward to 6 years ago and they are back. They started just before my dad passed away. I get them randomly. I talked to my dr and she asked if I wanted meds to help with them. I said yes. My options were for every day meds, or only when I need them. My choice was only as needed. That little bottle is my security blanket. I have it, but have never taken any. That doesn't mean I'm not having any. They just aren't as bad, and I am learning how to recognize and deal with them. Having said all that, I have been diagnosed with essential tremors. It affects my balance the most. The tremors themselves are sporadic. The panic attacks can, and do, trigger the tremors. The last panic attack was a year ago in Mexico. I didn't even realize that's what it was. All at once it was like I was in a bubble and everyone else was at a distance. We were with friends and couldn't leave right away. By the time we could come back to the USA my right hand/arm was useless due to the tremors. It was weeks later that I figured out what happened. When we got home I went to the dr who sent me to a neurologist that diagnosed me....See MoreHave you ever had a tooth pulled? Advice needed.
Comments (54)BTW, when I needed an extraction before an implant, I had the periodontist do it. They do extractions all day, every day, and they are better equipped to notice and react to a possible emergency. When I was in fifth grade, my friend, who had some serious health problems, died in the dentist's chair. One day she was in class and the next day she wasn't. Joan was the first person, besides my grandfather, that I knew who died. And while I realize, gratefully, that I don't have her health situation, I still take this stuff seriously. Attitude toward teeth is also partly cultural. Where I'm from, teeth are preserved (or if necessary, replaced) at all costs, even if the work has to be paid off slowly. Other places I've traveled, no one seems to think anything is odd about missing teeth, even if they are in the front. (Although did you see the Tiger King follow-up? That guy with all the missing teeth had them replaced. The difference was startling!)...See MoreHave you ever had this happen?
Comments (21)No, I've never been told I had a short conversation with someone during the night, but didn't remember it the next day. But I wouldn't be concerned, you were probably just in a sleep stage that allowed you to speak coherently, yet not retain memory of it in the morning. My younger sister used to laugh in her sleep. I shared a bedroom with her and my older sister, when we were young. When younger sister would start giggling, it would wake older sister and I up. But her giggling was so infectious that my other sister and I would start laughing. Then our younger sister would wake up and ask us what we were laughing about, because it had woken her up! My youngest son also laughed in his sleep often, and now my 7 year old grandson does as well, so maybe it runs in the family!...See MoreHave you ever had Welsh cakes?
Comments (13)So interesting to hear about that area! I would love to go to Wales and as a matter of fact, to England. I have been to Scotland and Ireland, including the north, so I nearly made it. My great grandfather was a coal miner, so that makes perfect sense. He came to Pennsylvania to work in the mines. What an awful way to make a living. Had to google abseiling. We call it rappelling and I would not do it so I did not inherit the gene for that! Thanks for the insights. I wonder if my ancestors made Welsh cakes. Most of the rest of my family came from Germany in the 1700s, so the cooking was PA German, known as Deutsch or Dutch. The cakes do sound yummy....See Moredeegw
