Have you had special FaceBook things happen?
Comments (1)Some fun things, have reunited with lots of relatives, which is great. Still searching for my childhood best friend, tho I did hear from a boy who was one of my best friends in elementary school! Guess since he's my age, he's not a boy any longer! I DID hear from my long-lost deadbeat ex-husband, which shocked me. In retrospect, I think it was his wife hiding under his profile, but in any event, it finally gave me closure to have a brief conversation with him. My kids were weirded out a bit, they've not had any contact with him in over 20 years, but they also seemed to get closure. So I guess that was a special thing....See MoreDollar Store Spray bottle
Comments (17)I had one plastic bottle fail. It was filled with a liquid that was mostly water. The botle had been dropped from a height of about 5 ft and landed square on its bottom on a hard surface. The shock force can be quite large. The bottle developed a split where the bottom meets a vertical wall and quickly spilled its contents. This surprised me but I can see why it might have failed. Most soft plastics have enough elasticity to dull the shock front, but some plastics may behave in a brittle manner if it required to stretch too quickly. Polycarbonates (tradename Lexan for example) can fail in unexpected ways after being exposed to certain detegents and solvents and then exposed to UV light. What seemingly was an elastic material can then behave more like glass. I know of a case where the polycarbonate top of an "iron lung" fractured sending shards to the face of the attending physician. According to the investigation, the material failed after being exposed to sanitation fluids and then having x-rays shot through it. The air pressure of the interior was modulated from low to about 1.5 atmospheres to cause artifical breathing by the patient. The cover 'exploded' on a positive pressure pulse....See MoreComputer trouble accessing links
Comments (1)I don't think you are being hyjacked. Yahoo has done this for years. I stopped using Yahoo when they started requiring you to read a page of advertising and wait, in order to view an email. It wasn't every single email but it was annoying....See MoreWhere's Pat When I Need Her LOL
Comments (27)Pat, its ok, I'm just glad to see your ok....I did buy a tub of the udder cream and white cotton gloves. I also spoke to my doctor. She told me the key in this is prevention...moisturize daily expecially right after a shower when the skin is damp and pores are open...also moisturize hands thruout the day, after hands are in water and even after wearing the rubber gloves because some people have skin reactions from the gloves, and most important hydrate myself, drink plenty of good old fashioned water. Prevention....but once the skin on the fingers open up the skin tears need addressed..she said the more I moisturize the open tears the longer they will take to heal..she actually advised me to put a small dot of super glue on the tears when they are tiny and it should prevent a larger deeper open wound which was what was happening...I haven't tried the glue yet, all of my boo boo's have closed up finially but I'm babying them. I am wearing the playtex gloves for dishes ect. Besides washing dishes with skin issues is just nasty business. You have no idea how many pairs of disposable gloves I go thru lol..I always have. I would never dream of touching raw meat without them lol. Jim, I hear what your saying about the caffeine dehydrating a person. I do only have one cup of coffee in the AM one cup of tea in the afternoon and occasionally a cup of coffee aftet dinner, but that's rare. I drink tons of water since I usually can't stand drinking sweetness. Once in awhile I'll crave a fountain Coke. Oh, my doctor also advised me to keep my hands out of the washing machine LOL..she said detergents are going to dry hand out and expecially any detergent containing SLS. And if I'm going to continue playing in detergent laden water rinse my hands well afterwards, don't just dry them off and call my hands clean, when they will be coated with detergent. Lol...she knows me too well. Anyway thank you all for your excellent advice, and I plan to follow this good advice and hopefully prevent this from happening again....See MoreElmer J Fudd
