Thanks owbist for the browser suggestions. chemocurl, I did open both of the blogs that you posted. I even looked around a bit on both to see if my problem happened again. (Loved both of them, too, since I love to garden.) Neither made my computer shut down. Not sure if I didn't 'visit' them long enough or not for it to happen. No, I don't have anything on blogspot myself. We haven't noticed the 'shut downs' happening with anything else. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing this? Thanks for your help!

As Pooh suggests, try not using the Standby feature. Instead set you monitor and hard drive to stop after 10 or 15 minutes and see what that does. Right click on an open area of the desktop to access the pop up for changing those settings. If these are in a folder trying opening Windows Explorer - right click Start then click Explore. Now right click on the folder and click Properties. The pop up will tell you many files and the total size of the folder.

Related or not? I like FF as it has been personalized with add-ons for my convenience. However, the versions released over the last several years have increasingly failed to open sites, complete a view offering, and resulting in more dead hyper-links. And many sites are important sites to me. V39.0 is now the worst with the most failures. It's not a security settings issue, and its not add-ons blocking a page's ability to load as it occurs with add-ons disabled. It's not an AdBlock issue. The effected pages work just fine in IE, Opera, Chrome, and Slimbrowser. I am approaching the need to drop FF altogether. It's been a while, but I have read other users complain of the failures and supported their wishful thinking that the next release will remedy the concern. It hasn't. DA
