More Upstate NY blooms
Comments (12)Moving back up, with more pics: Fairy Tale Pink (from tweetypye last year - THANKS AGAIN!) Looking Fine (FFO, and my pic makes it look more lavender that it really is, so I'll have to try for a "truer" pic later; it's got huge, vigorous fans this year, after being a newbie last year) Evening Harmony (it obviously likes blooming in a container; it was totally UGLY when it bloomed (EVERY bloom) last year, and I almost gave it away. I'm glad I gave it another chance.) Bacon Gold Nugget (A better pic than I got of its FFO; the longer I have this one, the more I like it.) My first seedling ever, which bloomed last year and looked NOTHING like this. It's got scapes like a redwood tree. Here's it's baby picture from last year; it changed a LOT: An object lesson in why I might want to keep borderline acceptable seedlings for more than one year before I decide to toss them! Comments (11)Jean: Arctic Blaze is definitely a keeper. I was so surprised when three of the blooms opened at the same time. Real nice photo op. Recent purchase too. Purchased it from David's Dazzling Daylilies. He has some terrific plants and what a variety he grows. Nice thing he is only 45 minutes away from our place. Laurelin: Princeton Eye Glow came from Mystic Meadows as bareroot in early June. Sent up many scapes and blooms. Not disappointed with that one. Sea Gold came from EZ Plant in Michigan back in Mid May. Lots of buds still coming. Nice healthly bareroot plants. Your about an hour away from us. We are on the west side of Seneca Lake between Watkins Glen and Geneva. I'm a former NJ native and we moved up here permanently about 10 years ago.Love this area and can't beat the convenience of all the wineries :-). Julie: Thanks. Trahlyta I purchased from Mystic Meadows as a bareroot back in early June. It sent up many scapes and lots of blooms. Unfortuately, it's on it last one :-(. I have to say, this has been a great start this year with so many of the daylilies blooming during their first year. Hopefully we get through winter with no losses but if we do, it means we can replenish in the spring :-). Julia...See MoreThursday's blooms here in Upstate NY
Comments (12)Very nice pictures. Isn't it a treat when a bonus plant thrills you so much? I have several in my garden that I love, and never would have considered if they hadn't been sent as gift plants. I love the bold colors of CONCRETE BLOND and ALABAMA JUBILEE, but I have to choose PEACHES AND GOLD as my favorite (maybe because it reminds me of orange sherbert, which is sounding pretty good right now in the heat!). Comments (5)It's a shame about All Things To All Men being splotchy and finicky about blooming. I really like the color. In my experience Splotchiness usually stays with the plant year after year. I'm thinking on a susceptible daylily it's the time of year it blooms that might account for some of it.. If Thrips are the culprit, then they come out in waves at different times during the year, and if yours consistently blooms during that same time you may have a problem every year. Of course Thrips don't read the train schedule so to speak, so some years you might just get lucky.......... I was glad to see Yada Yada Yellow. I've been tempted by it because it's such a late yellow. Davisson says it's her latest in her garden. If it was the rounded form I'd probably have gotten it by now, as it is I'll keep it on my list and see what others think about it ............Maryl...See Moredaylilybedmaker
