Bill Vincent or floor pros - can you tell me about quartzite flrs
Comments (2)I've never used quartzite on a floor, nor seen it used, but I don't see why it would be a problem. In fact, it'd make a great textured floor in high traffic areas. As for cleaning, I don't see why hot water wouldn't work 90% of the time. Make sure your subfloor and joisting are engineered to handle natural stone, though. They need to be literally twice as strong for natural stone as for ay other surface, including ceramic tile....See MoreLindybarts -- Can you tell me about your wall mount TV?
Comments (9)ROFL...love the reference to hubby's girlfriend! We built this house so we had the electrician put in the "tube" as he called it for the wires behind the wall. They just come out from the set and feed down the wall inside the tube to the outlet behind the dresser. The components were a sore spot for us as we struggled with what kind of dresser to buy and if we could somehow hide them but we ended up loving this RH dresser and just put them on stop. It doesn't look too awful although I would have prefered them hidden. I'll see if I can find any construction photos of the tube or wires behind....I don't know if I took any of them? Comments (24)kitchenkelly, When we finally got to installing the runner (months and months after having moved in), I was trying so hard to be fine with it--even though I was sure we had asked for it to be wider. Our staircase isn't narrow, so there's enough runner there even with the sizeable amount of wood showing. The runner is 32" wide and the reveal is about 7", not including the wood to the outside of the bannister railings. The installer said something about 6" or 7" being the standard reveal but I think he was just covering himself at that point. Also, our stairway makes a turn, the bottom stairs are wider than the upper stairs, and there are posts that cut in so it was kind of like a geometry puzzle to figure out how close we could get to the posts, etc., and still have it look okay. After the runner had been cut the installer said that we could possibly have had the runner hug the posts but I've never seen it done that way. Not sure how that would have looked and it was too late for us anyway. We're still having a problem with our hard drive but I'll try to take and post photos later if that would help....See MoreShow & Tell - Vines! Tell me about your Vines and why you love them.
Comments (19)Hi june, I am on about 4 acres and there are woods on most sides of the property and only one neighbor on one side that I can see and its fenced there lol. So escapee passiflora and other vines aren't a problem. In fact, there are "wild /rogue" trumpet vines, japanese honeysuckle, and carolina jessamine growing all crazy out in the woods and up various trees on the back of the property. I have a lot of gulf frits so they do keep the escaped (from pots) passies under control here too. For additional control, I grow most of my passiflora in pots and use 3 tall bamboo poles tied together at the top in the large pots. Then I use fishing line and black electrical tape to create a little trellis for them to attach their tendrils onto between the bamboo poles. Then I position the pots up against a fence or tree and let them climb that way once they grow over the bamboo poles. When it freezes, I cut them back to the length of the bamboo pole/trellis and move the pots into the gh because some of the passies I grow will freeze back badly and some are tropical so gh culture during the winter is best for those. ~SJN...See MoreHonu3421
