Can anyone help me with upholstery fabrics?
Comments (18)Bestyears, I'm glad you liked the link! I was actually looking for supplies when I run across that site on google and was surprised at all their fabrics. Les, Outdoor fabric is a really good idea! They seem to lend themselves to being more graphic and colorful. I did come across some outdoor fabric by Robert Allen .. I think it was in his Beacon Hill group. It looks like it might only be open to the trades though, although I'm still trying to trace a source. Sally, I have thought about going solid on the sofa and then bringing in patterens with pillows. I've also thought about mixing solids and patterns on the sofa in a way that it would make matching the fabrics easier for me. Since I'm going for a kind of funky, cottage look I think I could get away with that okay. Clt3 .. thank you for the link and help!...See MoreDoes anyone recognize this upholstery fabric?
Comments (3)Thank you. Not keen on the idea of mix-matched fabrics on the sofa. I am going to take the fabric to where my mother purchased hers (I cannot remember where I got mine lol) and see if they can identify. If not, there should be enough to cover a chair - I have about 9 yards. Allison - I am intrigued with how you Googled the image. Comments (15)O.K., so after I said I'd want to stay within the original nubby tweed, of *course* I found a fabric at G'will I couldn't resist...it's a heathered black ground with rather well-delineatd raised brown velour-ish silhouettes of African savannah trees and animals! Just makes me smile and I knew immediately I'd be using that. I don't know who made it, don't know how to search for it, and it may be very vintage, so it wouldn't be out there anyway. Luckily, there is enough for both chairs, so I'll have a little figurative but non-busy element amongst all the more usual upholstery fabrics. Never say never, hm? :) Thanks, everyone!...See MoreI'm clueless! upholstery fabric: through designers only?
Comments (20)Hi, I've been to the Long Island Kravet Furniture showroom, which is in the same building as Kravet's home office. Sales people there will help you with any fabric you're interested in putting on their furniture, and boy do they have a lot of fabric offerings!! They'll also quote retail price, but tell you to speak to your designer about the price. We were able to go by ourselves, just signed in with the name of the upholstery shop and the contact there. This was over a year ago & I can't remember what other fabric swatches lined the walls at the showroom as I was mainly interested viewing the Barbara Barry-designed fabrics & several sofas and chairs. I zoomed right over to a huge feature wall with large samples of all of her fabrics. Felt like I was in heaven! Local design centers, custom upholstery and window teatment workrooms, as well as interior designers, should also have Kravet books. A local custom upholstery shop offered wholesale prices should I order Kravet Furniture through them. Also, I got a quick peek at the Kravet wholesale price list a few months back, and the designer discounts were in the range of 34% to 50%, higher discounts for more expensive fabrics & also for purchases of four yards or more. For example, a $129/yard fabric had wholesale price of $74.50/yard ($67.05 if ordering four yards or more). Michelle...See More- 2 months ago
