Anyone grow 'Out of Yesteryear'?
Comments (11)My OoY is still in the pot ghetto (from a band this spring) so it's much too early to make too many judgements, That said, we had a terrible PM year, and while many of the ghetto-mates suffered, OoY was completely clean! BS is not a big issue here. The blooms, to my taste, are perfection. And the fragrance is divine. The foliage is glosy and dark green, quite dramatic against the cream flowers. I have very high hopes for this rose. I do expect that it will get rather large and perhaps a bit unruly in my climate. We'll see. And yes, it is well armed. Thanks to a kindness, I also acquired 3 'Out of the Night' roses, which Mr Moore bred out of OoY. These are also quite special. They are destined to be a more "useful" smaller size for the garden, and have a scent that is most unusual and strong (somewhat akin to ripe mellon). Not all the blooms have the same cupped perfection of OoY, some fold back into a more quilled form (still quite pleasing). There are not many roses I've carried around in pots just so I could enjoy their fragrance, but OotN has been subject to this treatment more than once. Both these roses evoke strong feelings of anticipation in me. Thus far I'm smitten. Bill...See MoreThe Jingle Bells Game CXXIX

Comments (0)Seeing as we just hit the 30 year mark of the world wide web I got to thinking what message boards have been around and gone. Personally, I started in '98 when the ones below were active. ifloor.com thathomesite.com hoskinghardwood.com floorfacts.com bobvilla.com improvenet.com finehomebuilding.com - they still exist floormasters.com - the wild west. Hardwood flooring only ....others I can't name. I would get occasional gifts from some for participating. I had no real business. Didn't pound my chest promoting any business. Just a guy installing hardwood floors day to day..for peanuts in Florida. Fun days. Fill in the blanks pros. When did you first get the message board itch. I see some older names here, some of which may have been on other boards The participants are different today. Back in the day it was a comradely of real people or those that got their hands dirty daily. I rarely saw the likes of today. Sure, Houzz offers that opportunity to share in your knowledge, but today...oh my...it's over the edge. Floorfacts was the first I was on. John Simonsons old domain now owned by Quinn Street along with a slew of other older flooring domains. Most of which lay stagnant (no updates) today just to make money from third party advertising. A real shame, including woodfloorsonline.com the first of it's kind. We're thinking of you Joe Boone....See Morebpath
