Comments (7)OOOoohhhh! I am SO sorry to hear about your photobucket account....guess I need to see if mine survived! Now, come on Tinfoil....you know your critters were just dancing a happy dance and daring you to get those creative juices flowing.....can't wait to see your next creation! DH always looks forward to what you've been up to....we figured you had abandoned us for the high country. Hope you found that cooler weather....there sure hasn't been any in Virginia...in fact it's been like a steam bath here for weeks. Glad you're back...hope you find your photos!...See MoreBut it's not my fault !!!!!
Comments (6)hi, I'm cat, and I'm an addict:) it all started when my mom sent me a Mother's Day houseplant basket. Well, the violet in it did not like living with the other plants. So I potted it up in my old usual standard potting soil. it lived and stayed green in my dim living room, which is all I used to require of houseplants. I knew not to expect more. Then, a year later, my sweet 80 pound puppy decapitated it with his tail. took the leaf rosette right off the stem. sailed it across the room and landed it neatly in an empty saucer. i quickly put water in the saucer until I could get a chance to see if it could be saved. After all, my mom gave it to me. I read. I bought African Violet potting soil. I found out that you're SUPPOSED to decapitate them when the stalk gets leggy! Thanks, pup! I carefully followed all the directions for rooting my lone rosette. I put it in my northeast kitchen window, where all my plants go when they need more attention than occasional water. It not only rooted, it bloomed. then it stopped. then it did it again! well, then there was - you guessed it - the floral section at the grocery store. and some different colors. needed rescuing. they were cheap! and...well...the northeast kitchen window now has a big long shelf under it, and the herbs and the seedling flats have to share. Because African Violets like that northeast light. and every one of them has bloomed all summer. and I had enough to give away. and another set of new babies coming up. one, with 2 whole new leaves already, is even blooming. it might be my fault. but it could be my mom and the dog....See MoreIt's all your fault Patty.
Comments (9)Sorry about that, bamboo. Feeding the craze :-) And, this lady can't have a Dekopon. Dekopon is not available to the public. It is very, very tightly controlled right now, and only a small number of commercial growers in California are allowed to grow the Dekopon. If she has one, it's not a Dekopon. If she grafted it, she did so illegally. So, beware of that. The only possible way she could have a true Dekopon, would to have had this tree or budwood transported over from Japan before all the citrus restrictions were placed on imported citrus. Not even sure this variety has been around that long, even in Japan. And, we all know what happened here in Calif. with illegally procured budwood. UC Riverside is trying to procure Dekopon budwood themselves, from other sources, but have not been able to do so, yet. So, this also casts significant doubt about what variety this tree really is in my mind. Patty S....See MoreIt's All Your Fault GW
Comments (42)Great thread, and Redroze, thank you for the dose of reality. I just reread your post to my husband. I am doing several things I have learned on here already, such as the single sink, and more drawers. Maybe even a range hood, only I really do not know where to put the microwave! I can't do many of the amazing things I see others posting. I appreciate the genius and beauty of the kitchens posted on here. And I need to remember to love the kitchen I do have while utilizing what affordable tips and tricks I can do. :-) This is an awesome site, and it is the many generous, awesome people who make it this way....See MoreOlychick
