it looks like you are simply using a shag rug so there's no pulling colors from that source.

The pillows would have been a bit more interesting in a pattern or texture.

That pillow you selected is not emerald green.

Sounds a bit like you're on your way to a whole lot of glam, shine and perhaps too much metal..

IMO the kitchen says rustic and the rest is glam and honestly they do not mix well.Why the 2 types of flooring and also why that choice for cbinets when your style leans very glam? I need a bit of info. I also think spaces are best when they evolve with things you really love less than all matchy whatever .We alo need to see your space from further back to get a feel for what you already have.

The problem is a lot of the pieces I have are glam from my old style… but I appreciate the feedback because I don’t want to go in that direction! The issue is, because my floor is wood and so is my counter, I didn’t want to buy more items that had wooden legs because I didn’t want the vibe to look rustic, so I was thinking the chrome and metals would modernize the space but maybe I’m wrong.

I love your inspiration design plans....if that is the look you want I suggest you copy everything as the designer has allowed for everything to be balanced and interesting.....so yes you want the deep contrast in end tables, cocktail table, and mirror finish to give you strong contrast without the glam.....go for it and bite the bullet and follow your designer plan. Good luck.

Contrast will provide a great deal of interest in the room and break up ones desire to have everything match for fear it wont match......deep breath and stop the match.

Do you see any chrome in your inspo? No. You don't even see any gray.

Not ALL metals suggest glam, and not ALL woods suggest rustic. Not all metals are modern, and not all wood is traditional.

Your inspo is warm, organic, layered , textured.

Go back.......and slow down. Do NOT buy the gray sectional.Start with that as bye bye.....and plan to get rid of some c.h.r.o.m.e. It's cold versus warm.

Maybe begin with a rug you truly love. Post a floor plan we can read........ inches matter.

If the pic you posted for inspiration is the look you want then copy it because what you are telling us about what you think you want is a far cry from that photo.

I'm not sure I understand the question. You posted a mood board of what you're after. So find furniture that looks like your mood board. Neutral upholstered furniture. Black accents for accessories and occasional tables. For things like throw pillows, inject some pattern and texture in that neutral/black palette.

Start over, get some local interior design help! You will save yourself in mistakes, regrets and even money........whichever feeling you want. They are very different.

Thanks for your comments! I’m learning as I go and just discovered the style “cozy elegant” and I think that is exactly the vibe I’m going for! Thank you everyone for your comments as I feel I am being pushed in the right direction. I like elements of modern organic like the neutral bases but I don’t want to copy everything from the modern organic image because that’s too cookie cutter in my opinion. I’ve attached some inspiration photos of “cozy elegant”. I am drawn to luxurious textures like velvet and pops of color.

So far some take aways from your comments are…

1. I will tone down on the gold and chromes as “glam” is not what I’m after. Rustic is definitely not what I’m after either.
2. I also want to incorporate textures in my pillows, keep the pop of green (I have lots of plants too) because by staying with earthy colors, I feel as though that will be too much modern organic. Correct me if I’m wrong on this.
3. I will find a nice large rug that I love, like the second picture to centre the room. I’m thinking a light color like in the picture. Thoughts?
4. I will use black as contrast as well. Perhaps a black coffee table, black picture frames on the wall? Two black accent pillows as well perhaps. I was considering gold but- that would be too glam!

In summary, here’s what I have so far. The couch color says it’s grey but it pulls very light and it’s interwoven with beige. You can see how close it is to the floor model in the picture as the sample is on the couch. The Moroccan pouf isn’t a necessity but I am Moroccan and I would like to add some cultural elements too.
