Big crack silgranit sink
Comments (12)Well, I think I've solved the issue. Most reviews are so positive for this sink, but I was ready to switch to SS this morning. Then, I've been in touch with someone named Denise from customer service at Blanco, and she has been great. Took pics she requested of the looong crack, the serial # on the under side of the sink, and pic of the only receipt we had which was from the contractor we'd used, not from the supplier of the sink. The sink is back ordered a week, and since locally they were back ordered even further, she took my info & will send the sink directly here. We'll have the same contractor install the new one...sigh. The sink is kind of "bowed" shaped on the side (we have an over mount), and the stainless sinks were not the same configuration, so she was concerned about the fit. SO, after working on this all morning in my robe, I decided to go for the easiest solve, and hopefully this one will hold up better. At least Blanco was responsive and helpful in solving the issue. Not sure if I would go with the Silgranit if I were starting all over, but they do get great press and our contractor says he has put in many & everyone seems satisfied. Thanks everyone.......See MoreBlanco Silgranite kitchen drop in sink with undermount
Comments (15)Warning-my brand new double bowl w/ built in drain bd. silgranit sink got a crack that leaks! Best guess is it had a hairline crack and when poured hot pasta water in sink to drain it cracked! Heard a "POP!" They are sending a new sink, but warranty doesnÂt cover installation. They said from now on I should run cold water to mix w/ the hot when draining things. This sink is supposed to take the heat, but 2 people at Blanco said to do this. I would not have bought sink promoted to be so strong if I knew it needed TLC. I've NEVER had to do that w/ ANY sink I've ever owned, and I've lived a LOT of places. And this is the most expensive sink I've ever had! IÂm writing this to share w/ readers, and to find out if anyone else has had this problem....See MoreReceived Blanco Silgranit sink - are these cracks?
Comments (8)Hello, As a representative from BLANCO, I would like to add some information as to the quality and production of our BLANCO SILGRANIT kitchen sinks that may help ease your mind. BLANCO is THE world leader in composite kitchen sink development in ALL areas of technical advancements, patent development, quality control, portfolio size, color offering, and true global production. Our products carry a lifetime warranty and are produced in BLANCOs own factories located in Germany and Canada. Our sinks go through extensive quality control checks throughout each stage in production. Specifically, I want you to know that each and every SILGRANIT sinks underside does have some roughness and texture which may be interpreted as cracks. This is a natural part of our patented formulation and production process. The texture you are seeing on the backside is a result of the curing process of the material after casting. It does not in any way deter from the strength of the product but rather allows for the perfect combination of interior surface hardness and overall strength by ensuring that the maximum amount of granite is at the useable surface. It is this process that makes our sinks the MOST durable and the MOST hygienic surface available on the market today. We pride ourselves on being a family company that focuses on quality, innovation, and customer service. We stand behind our products everyday with passion and pride to ensure you have a wonderful experience every time you use them. Please contact our customer care department at 800-451-5782 should you have any questions or concerns....See MoreDid you get a Blanco or Elkay Silgranit sink for your kitchen?
Comments (6)We have Blanco Silgranit I was extremely happy with it. Then I discovered that my dear DH was cooking in the night(he's a night owl) and put some boiling hot pan right off the stove in it. It left light discoloration (hardly visible to tell the truth..seen only in certain light, much like etching..still I was very mad). I bought a special product Blanco holds for deep cleaning/dealing with similar issues. A quite expensive one at that too. It didn't help much. Helped some. Now I got used to this tiny discoloration and notice it less..after all I'm very lucky I get tremendous help with cooking (cooking is one of the hardest chores for me mowadays) So. I'd still say it's a lovely sink(we have it in very forgiving color too, taupe-ish color..not white or black..)..but it won't handle certain things. Be mindful of that. I myself would never risk putting hot iron on top of it (as I wouldn't with almost any surface) , but then I'm more careful around stuff. Boiling water-no problem at all. It's usually easy to clean and if not for that hiccup I'd consider it the best sink I ever owned/had. But every material has ts limitations, one just needs to be aware of them....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
