Area Rug(s) for Entryway that leads to Multiple Rooms
Comments (5)@Lil S I was going to use a runner initially. But, I thought it shouldn't block the stairs or entrance to the kitchen. I guess I was thinking too much. I've never had a long hallway before, so I was stumped! I appreciate the feedback. @Karen Rose: Apparently, I was thinking way too much about this and should have went with my first gut. Ugh. Thank you so much! @groveraxle You are awesome for proving a link. I was looking on Wayfair and Overstock and couldn't find a runner longer than 13 feet. Since the 22 foot runners are only 2' 3" and wouldn't cover the opening of the front door. I think a indoor/outdoor rug and then a 16" would work, Yay...See MoreEntry Rug - Suggest away!!
Comments (7)All the suggestions are lovely, really. I think in my mind I was picturing something lighter but reality is, I am probably good with the navy background. I can't remember where I got this rug but it was something online from way back and I believe it is Karastan. I most likely found the store on here (maybe rugs usa or one of those that has been around forever) and it is wool and was really quite reasonable. so maybe I will leave well enough alone. I will bombard you all though with a few other pressing needs as you always rise to the occasion....See MoreSuggestions for entryway lamp and table
Comments (15)Hi janetlammens- Oh, that mirror is brilliant, you talented girl!! The rug is marvelous too. In terms of proportion, the mirror should not be more than 3/4 the length of the table. 3/4 would be perfect. In addition, the "weight" of the frame of the mirror should be in proportion to the "weight" of the piece of furniture below it. The hairpin table you have below it now seems a bit too skimpy. I am not clear what you want there- Do you want another console table with a basket for shoes? A dresser type piece with a drawer in which to put shoes? Do you need a stool or chair on which to sit? You could get a lamp for the table, but it really isn't necessary. A table on an entryway lamp was always done, but we now have much better indoor electric lighting, so it isn't really necessary, and a lamp will distract from your beautiful mirror. Why not just get an attractive but not too showy ceiling fixture in the entryway? You should have one for safety reasons anyway, so you can see when you enter your home. And on the top of the table or chest you can put a tray for keys or mail and a plant or flowers, and that's it. A chest of some sort is a great idea, and don't worry about the color or finish, you are crafty. You can re-finish it or paint it. I can't see the rest of your house, but if you can find something inexpensive, you can paint it a glossy black or black lacquer-type finish. You might find an auto painting pace to do a high gloss spray paint for you in the color of your choice. With drawers it can be the perfect place for gloves and hats and dog leashes and dollar bills for tips and the extra set of keys. If it is on legs, you can get a tray from the pet store like the ones they use for the bottom of animal cages and add pebbles and put that on the floor under the dresser for shoes....See MoreEntryway rug or rugs?
Comments (12)How about a very practical half-circle rug for the doorway entry, but a real rug, not a doormat, and then another rug in front of the chest? I don’t think they need to be important rugs, either of them, and best if they don’t match. Just that they don’t claSh. Maybe the rug in front of the hall chest coulf pick up the firey hue of the lamp beyonD. If I can come up with an example I’ll post a pic....See Moreolychick
