Melanie, Do you want to continue to buy from this vender? Do they, for esample, have roses you like which are available no where else? Or, are their roses bigger and healthier than anywhere else? If so, you might want to contact a manager or supervisor about your experience. It soulds likely to me that the customer service (sic) person might have been trying to save him or herself effort by simply giving a no we don't do that answer, of which the translation might be something like, My boss might approve this, but then I would have to track him or her down, and then get into the computer and change your ship date, and then the shipping guys are going to be on my case about having to move your roses from shelf A to shelf B, and if there is any kind of mixup it is going to get blamed on me so if I just say no, so what, big deal. You might have immediately asked to speak to a supervisor during your initial conversation, sometimes that can get cooperation which might otherwise not be forthcoming. Me, I likely would not buy from them again. I take the view that especially in times of high employemnt, there is no excuse for tolerating poor service and disdainful attitudes. The person might have at least asked the supervisor whether, for a long time customer, the $15 charge could not be waived. If I were the phone person, I would have taken it on myself to waive the charge and been dismissed probably, but then I never did have much respect for tin hat authority.

Some roses don't have the genetic ability to root at all. Some don't root easily. Some require specific handling to successfully root. Remember J&P's "New Generation Roses"? They were their own root moderns, created to eliminate the expense of budding. They prematurely announced Henry Fonda would be available own root until they discovered it doesn't root well and doesn't make a good plant own root. Week's offers some of their roses own root. Many, though, they don't because they don't develop good enough root systems to produce the quality of plants they want to have their name on. Mermaid, per one nurseryman, won't root for him until September. Locally, I've been told not to even mess with trying Fortuniana until Mother's Day. This is going to vary depending upon the variety and location. Grey Pearl is difficult to root and makes terrible plants unless budded. Many of the Coffee Roses are that way. Some roses just don't have the genetic ability to differentiate their cambium layers and form roots well. You can continue trying it and you may hit upon the right combination to produce the plant, but then it may not grow well anyway. Personally, unless the variety has special meaning for you, I'd move on to more successful varieties and grow the difficult ones budded, or not at all. Kim

As a former sun goddess (lol) who sunbathed for 40 years, these days I literally hate sunny days. I am like many of my generation who worshipped the sun and slathered themselves with baby oil to get the most overall golden tan . I started in April and ended in October every year. Now of course my generation is paying the price. So far, knock wood, I have had no skin cancers but have sun damage. I try to avoid being out in the sun now which is why I like my daily hikes on the AT because it's mostly wooded. I do feel slightly nauseous if I'm in direct sun for more than a few minutes. I wish that would have been the case all those years ago.

That almost looks like something I could whip up to wear poolside on my sewing machine in an hour - two at the most. And, I haven't sewn in years. The sides are open, what exactly would I wear under it.

Jilly, same here. As for the cover up, when in my teens, I made shower wraps and strapless rompers. They are so quick and easy, and the romper was a better coverup and optional summer outfit -- when in teens and twenties.

I think someone was sitting at the table in their underwear when the UPS guy came to the door with the their new phone that had to be signed for. So they ripped the tablecloth off the table, wrapped up in it, and answered the door. (For the record, I do not know anyone who would sit at the table in their undies nor do I know anyone with the talent to rip a tablecloth off a table.)

My dad often sat at the kitchen table (and at his desk in his home office) in his boxers 😃

I resist clicking on those mystifying photos, no matter how curious I am about what they are, because I do not want to be spammed with more. And interestingly, I recently listened to this segment of On The Media with Cory Doctorow about the 'ensh**tification' of internet platforms. The focus was on Meta and the big 'A', but it's applicable across the internet...
