Looking for window covering suggestions for master bedroom
My dog thinks that sunrise means it's time to get up but I'm not so keen on waking up at 5:30 or earlier. So it's time to get serious about window coverings in the master bedroom of our new-construction home. The two smaller windows that flank the bed are 24 inches wide by 60 inches tall and face east. The other (north) wall contains a 60 inch by 60 inch window as well as a door with a 21 inch by 80 inch glass panel. The room has 10 foot ceilings so the windows are 2 feet from the ceiling and 3 feet from the floor. I definitely need something room darkening if not blackout.
What window treatment works well on a door as well as the windows? Drapes, blinds, shades...? Inside mount, outside mount? If outside mount, how high/wide to mount taking into account the covering/placement on the door and that eventually there will be a headboard for the bed?
I feel like these windows are small for the size/height of the room (overall the room is 16 x 17), but it is what it is. When looking through photos for inspiration most of the windows are more expansive, have nice trim, great views, etc. They're not your basic builder grade like these. Also, I'm not tied to anything in this room. Bedding will be changed, nightstands are too low, etc., but I have to start somewhere and window coverings are our current need.
Any suggestions/opinions/input will be appreciated.

Blinds.com great for light control and privacy. Top Down/Bottom Up to add texture and warmth to the space... come in a variety of colors. Add drapery panels, grommet top easy for closing with a drapery wand. Don't need to go overboard with room darkening drapery that looks like fiberglass. inside mount on the windows and over mount for the door.

11 months agolast modified: 11 months agoI prefer wood blinds or indoor shutters over solar/roller shades for day and night light control…. I’d have a blind company in for a consultation.
With the blinds, I‘d have lined curtains to close when needed.
On the door, you could continue the same treatments or use a Roman shade:
Another idea for the door is built-in blinds. The window pros can advise you on them. I had them for my bedroom door at my last house, with a Roman shade.They have easy controls for opening/closing and raising/lowering.
I may be wrong, but I think it’s possible to install them on your existing door.This board loves solar shades, and that’s certainly an option. I’ve had them myself and don’t like how they look when pulled down. Feels commercial to me, plus I don’t care for how they distort the view. But that’s just me, no right or wrong here. Do what works best for you. :)

Window coverings for sliding glass door in master bedroom?
Comments (7)You have a lovely view, but I'm betting that (depending on your zone, of course) there will be times when it is either too hot or too cold outside, and you will want more protection from the elements than your glass doors provide. I have sliding glass doors at both ends of my sun porch, and have countless times thanked myself for installing thermal drapes over them. The drapes easily slide aside when the weather is good and then just soften the edges a bit, but are there to provide protection, additional warmth or coolness, and privacy when desired. Although even sheers will provide some warmth, they will not keep out the heat of the sun or the chill of a cold wind nearly as well, not will they afford full privacy when that is desired. Comments (16)Thanks @loobab! That bedding has turned out to be perfect in every way. It has become the inspiration for the whole house color palette. As often happens with decorating projects, I now have a new problem to solve. I have no place to put all those decorative pillows at night. There’s no other furniture in the room besides the bed and nightstands. Adding a bench at the foot of the bed seems silly with all that space on the sides to work with. A chair would be nice, but what else to put with it? I don’t need or want a dresser. And we don’t watch tv in that room, so a media console isn’t relevant. Comments (10)I think the bathroom needs serious work to make it a nice space . The floor and the tile do not work together , the whole space is huge for no reason, the cabinets are the only thing worth keeping. I would save my money to renovate that space for sure. As for bedroom color I usuallt start with the bedding , a feature wall works best when it is on a wall with no doors or windows. I think the window in your master is too small, the wall color and the carpet don’t work together so maybe post a pic of the bedding you love and I hope you are not going to bring all those pieces into your new bedroom from the spare one.Also your ide books are all over the place, seriuosly sit down before doing anything and figure what style you really like.
