Four. They're only used for the handles. Less of the spout will be visible because a greater portion of it will be behind the now-thicker wall. I'm no building expert but you'll have to be sure to install the shiplap so that water splashed on the sink backsplash or on the shiplap itself cannot seep under or through the shiplap and destroy the wall behind it.
