I put a handblown glass vessel sink in my new bath and after about 9 mo or so it cracked. No one would accept responsibility for it and I wasn't going to pay for another, just to have it crack again. (artist said it was installed too tightly, plumber said it couldn't have been any looser or it would have leaked...yada yada.) Since I'd designed everything in that bath to go with the sink, including the wall mounted faucets, and the original sink was quite shallow and not too large, I had a HECK of a time finding a replacement. But I finally found this one and I love it. I love it more than the original sink because it doesn't show water spots like the glass did. I like that it's only 3.5" deep and can also be installed semi recessed if you need it lower. It's 16.9" in diameter. Here is the original, so you can see placement. I don't have a photo of the new one in place but will post a retailer pic. Don't know if it might work for you. My counter is deeper than this one, but I don't remember the depth - not too deep. i suppose i would resort to emailing a short query to 10 or 20 manufacturers. "shortest projection wall lavatory faucet" Kohler has a K-2443 (discontinued, but available) which you install wherever you wish, inside a shelf that you build to suit your space. In a tiny space, a shelf is your friend. The k-2443 has a single-handle temperature mixer; this is good for mixing cold cold Lake Ontario water with hot water from your tank. The k-2443 is SO short it's invisible. Your shelf projects the distance you want it to. (Another product the k-2440 is a ready made shelf. Another product is a ready made medicine cabinet, into which you may put this invisible faucet.) Web search "K-2440" "K-2443" outside Kohler's web site. When you open the PDF documents you can see how simple the faucet is, and therefore how easy it is to install in any shelf / tablet / support / that you design to fit your space. It's modular. Aquabrass has a Blok faucet. It is also a shelf with a faucet integrated into it. The shelf is made of Corian, which cuts like wood, so you can reduce the dimensions of the shelf if you want it to be smaller. Several versions. Dornbracht has a Corian shelf with a faucet integrated into it. Elemental Spa. Two versions. I know many companies that would have no problem cutting any spout down to a smaller size and rechroming it for you. Hth

A lot depends on the sink. I don't feel it should be centered in the cabinet. I like sinks pulled forward in the cabinet as much as possible for two reasons. First, less leaning in and more comfortable use. Second, it leaves more space in back. But this is something the fabricator often decides automatically unless it is discussed in advance. And if the counter is stone it can require more delicate templating -- something to inquire about/discuss when they come to template. I have stainless counters so when he came to template I actually had the faucet on hand and we were able to hold it up and see where it should go. Then you can have your calculations at hand but make adjustments at the critical time. That's best case but not everyone can be there. Also, I don't assume counter over hang because it depends on the style, material and fabrication. Some counters have overhangs and some will be flush with the front of the cabinets -- though I don't feel that's most desirable -- and yet modern kitchens may have that. Another point to discuss. Again, with mine, the KD wanted more overhang than I did and I had her pull it back to 1/2-inch. So, what I'd do -- and maybe you've done this already -- is get the spec sheets for the sink you want and the spec sheets for each faucet you're considering. There was a similar thread by sparkling water where I posted those (link is below) and walked through key issues for each. You can see what you think. Measurement formula basically is drain center to inside edge of sink + additional width of exterior sink flange/clips+ setback 2-3" usually (but that depends) + half the diameter of the faucet. I don't worry about the back or the tile thickness unless I was going with very thick 3 dimensional tile or they are building out the wall for some reason. As a rule -- just a guideline -- there should be around 5+ inches in back but that can vary with how the sink is positioned. I pay attention to that as not all cabinets are made the same way. And the sink needs to rest on the frame, of course. If the spout is lined up with the drain (it needn't be dead center) splashing is usually eliminated. But, some faucets don't splash even if they aren't lined up. The deeper the sink, the less splashing unless the water hits something. Splashing also can be a function of the flow rate -- how many gallons per minute the faucet handles and how much water pressure a house has. In the other thread, there was a difference in that among the various faucets. Flow rate also is noted on the faucet spec sheet -- something to consider. This would not be as knotty if more showrooms had the faucets hooked up and functional. One look that way is worth hours of time!! Oooh! I have a good amount of experience with wall mounted faucets. In our last remodel we had 3. Four this remodel. I always get Kingston Brass. Great styling, terrific prices online and excellent quality. Chicago faucets are very popular on here amongst the wall mounted crowd. Re: Reach. There are different spout lengths available on the wall mounts. I think Chicago might offer the greatest length size. I believe my reach is somewhere around 12" from the wall. You have to take into account the tile, escutcheon and spout. Look at the spec sheet for whatever faucet you are interested in. Our sinks have been apron sinks. One fireclay and one custom big soapstone. I find the set-up comfortable. On our last remodel, I was a newbie at this and did not realize that the spouts came in different lengths. We had the farm sink on a short wall and actually cut the cab down in the back to make the water hit dead center because I was nervous about reach. To be honest, I don't think it was necessary. I have always mounted the faucets 8" above the countertop, which seems crazy high before everything is in and finished but is the perfect height (imho) if you are handling large buckets, pots, coolers, etc. I love the wall mounted faucets!
