Comments (7)Enduring, really like your setup! My new (1983) house is sort of a contemporary-ish, transitional eclectic something or another. I found a great deal on Hansgrohe lever sink faucets and want something that will jive. There is a Hansgrohe model similar to your tub filler but with levers that I need to stare at some more. Boy IâÂÂm a dingbat; once I used your key words âÂÂTub Fillerâ I got all kinds of hits. Just a little flip of the wordage and Presto! The good news is there are a lot more choices out there than I thought (although not huge). The bad news is that I have never heard of most of the brands. For example: La Torre has some real nice looking stuff at a reasonable price. The few reviews were all good on the product itself but bad that it doesnâÂÂt come with some sort of rough-in valve thingy that is hard to find (I guess). Next, I came across this wall mount Baril from the fantasy collection that I really like. But who has heard of Baril? Not me! ItâÂÂs only $380 and must be too good to be true. However, here is the site and IâÂÂm almost convinced to give it a try. Now that I have the right search terms my problem is finding something nice that is not so traditional or overly modern. When I do find something I like it has a name I have never heard of or itâÂÂs something wack from China. Comments (14)Ok, I found one this weekend : It illustrates what plllog and ci_lantro said. It concurs with what cooksnsews and elz_kitchen said also. sombreuil_mongrel only added information about his assessment of me and not about the main subject, which is "For What Reasons are there no modern Kitchen Wall Mounts?" It absolutely floored me to discover after web searching that there really aren't any serious choices. I doubt the K ohler Karbon has taken a big market share. I'm very glad it's out there now. Casey, if you want to talk out loud about me, what I'll be looking for in terms of feedback is to know if I'm making progress. Are the descriptions getting clearer, is progress being made, is there more light coming down the tunnel? I'm trying to understand why it took DECADES before a reasonable wallmount was developed. I mean "wallmount with a mixer handle". So, fishing for motives is an OK strategy as you get to see how people react. It seems it's also like a litmus test for a few males who get irked and then post to show it. (!) Ci_lantro said it well. Paraphrasing, that "WWII had something to do w/ disappearing large integrated backsplash sinks that wall mount faucets were often attached to. During the war, people had cash but rationing meant there wasn't much of anything to spend the money on. In the post war building boom, houses were smaller and the fitted kitchen became popular with the sink under a window. This put the faucet onto the deck, where a laborer could screw it tight. Cookiecutter houses built post-war made deckmounts the new standard. To install, they are great, and absolutely the best when you have low skill labor installing fitted kitchens. The large cast sink with a high back for "shelf-back" wall faucets went out of style. The demise of the big farmhouse sink pretty much did in the wall faucet. Except for commercial applications where wall mount faucets dominate the market. Makes sense to me. Deckmount. Easier to install. Works under a window, if the window opens outwards. Easier to build an exterior wall; no special effort required for additional insulation. Form follows need.
