What new products have you tried.......
Comments (5)Sally Hansen Hand creme in the orange tube is for reducing age spots and aged hands. I don't use it for that purpose. I put it on my feet and heels and it gets rids of the roughness and prickly dead skin after a few uses. Before using this, I was constantly scrapping the dead skin off with that PED thing followed by the sanding paper to smooth the dead skin. Not anymore. This stuff is a keeper. I have to get another tube....See MoreNew Gypsum Product - Increases Sound Proofing - Anyone Tried it?
Comments (4)It makes no sense to compare 5/8" GWB wall construction to 1/2" GWB construction (52 vs 33 STC). The actual difference is roughly equivalent to what resilient channels would provide. The advantage of the new GWB panels is that they are thinner not quieter and this is more important in multi-family design than in home design. Some drywall contractors might prefer the additional work of cutting the new panels to the additional work of installing the channels. I don't know what the cost difference is but I suspect the new panels are more expensive than using channels. The new panels are not used in my area because the market is dominated by veneer plaster (blueboard) which is cheaper and of better quality than taped drywall. I suppose this product will eventually be available in a veneer system....See MoreAnyone with experience using Obagi skincare?
Comments (24)What about laser treatments? I wonder if anyone has had real success with them. I did a series of them a few years ago for my many spots. (I have freckles, which I don't mind, but now I also have sun damage spots mixed in, making my face look like some sort of sepia-toned map of the world when I don't have makeup on.) The laser turned a lot of the spots darker at first, then they basically fell off. I have one biggish spot in particular on my cheek that bothers me more than anything, and that one didn't go away completely but it was definitely lighter. The problem is, within a year all the spots were back. I can't afford to do laser treatments all the time! I even had a dermatologist try to "burn" off that one dark spot with that thing they use to burn off minor moles. That didn't work a bit. I do have the Obagi hydroquinone cream that I bought from Amazon. Unfortunately, I'm not that religious about using it but an aesthetician told me with these products you have to really use them religiously for many months to see a real difference. When I did use it religiously for a while, what I noticed is that the spots darkened at first (I didn't use it on my whole face, just on a couple of really annoying spots) and then peeled a bit, and finally they did lighten up. So I'm trying to do that again. What I really want is a magic instant eraser! I am in the middle of a second series of microdermabrasion treatments that I started last spring. I go about once a month (I didn't go in summer). I think that has lightened some of the smaller spots, and definitely makes my skin look clearer in general....See MoreNegotiating a new car purchase - any tried & true tactics?
Comments (95)Right on, gscience! There's a whole world of auto enthusiasts out there filled with good, helpful folks who are passionate about cars and want to share their knowledge and experiences with others. Autocross looks like an absolute blast as well. This sort of thing is probably in my DNA though, having been raised by a father who was never without a fast car (he raced for a time), and even as an octogenarian drives a collector's Porsche. It's a rewarding (albeit expensive) hobby and I think most people understand that (or at least understand when they DON'T understand and refrain from dissing something they're ignorant about). ;)...See MoreKswl
