I fought for this glass front door because of my family’s privacy concerns. But we are on a quiet court and I liked the light it brought in. This is our view in the fall. We did GNA glass so it obscures a little. I love it and consider its benefits to outweigh its drawbacks. You may have to negotiate to get your husband on board. Only you know if it is worth it. Your glass door would be gorgeous.

There are a lot of very expensive homes with glass front doors, so no one needs to be worried that it is a classless look. I think the style you chose is very nice.

I wish I had done a half glass front door as opposed to the 1/4 glass we did. I would vote for glass for sure. It lets in so much more light.

I have had clients want a glass doors with side lights . . . then want a deadbolt lock on the door.

We will have a traditional lockset on the door. My mindset is people who want to get in - WILL.

 They likely wouldn't even take the front door and  I have (4) large sliders along the back and side of the house. Perfect for breaking in, or even our backdoor to enter the garage. I am not concerned about the glass door being secure. 

 I don't have curtains /or blinds on most windows. 

The bedroom windows in the front of the home are the only place. The back and sides of the house have no coverings. I am all about open windows lol. It used to drive him bananas. He has accepted it now. 

I live in a rural area, 300+ft long driveway and no  homes that can see us. Woods on all sides. 

My husband doesn't think the glass door looks classless or anything like that. He just wanted to a more traditional wood door. I just REALLY want to have glass to let the light in. That area is the darkest spot in the house because of the farmers porch overhang. It blocks the sun/light and shades the 1st floor front of the house.

My front door is almost exactly like that one, but it’s mahogany. I hope he wouldn’t call my house classless, but who knows. I won’t brag about how nice it really is. 😁 We have the Flemish glass, which is great. Lets in light, gives some privacy. Anyone peering in would only see our entry, but since we are downtown and the front door sits close to the sidewalk, I was still concerned about privacy. It’s the only window in the entry so it would be very dim without the glass door. I really like having a glass door because of the added light. Don’t worry much about security - keep the area well lit and have a good security system in place. What else do you want to know?

That 1st door you posted is gorgeous and looks nothing like a back door. Maybe search for some homes similar like yours with glass paned doors to show him.

I have a full glass front storm door and leave the front door open all the time unless it’s really cold or really hot. I love all the additional light it lets in. My front door opens into my living room, and not much happens there that can’t be seen by the public, so no privacy concerns with me. Your choices are lovely, and it makes the front of the house inviting.

We have a clear glass door and I absolutely love it. We had one at our last home too.

We did a solid wood door with side lites, mostly because the front of our house faces west and even with a 10 ft deep overhang, we get a lot of late afternoon sun coming into the foyer. Would have been too much sun/heat coming in through a glass door.
