HELP! My new quartz countertop has a "melt" spot!!!
Comments (31)Hi I have an update for anyone that is curious. I have other construction/remodel priorities now to finish things around the house (like the bathroom on the first floor and staining the new staircase) and I don't have extra money to repair a chip that is really a cosmetic issue/concern. So after someone suggested the outrageous sum of $1k to repair a chip for a counter that cost about twice that, I was left with just estimates from purported "pros" and the chip. So I decided to do research and I found something that looks promising: http://www.discoveredit.com/procaliberproducts.aspx. I emailed them and they suggested the PRO paste since it was so close to the edge (vertical surface). They also have pretty cool cleaning/polishing products that I will buy and try. I will post pictures of the results when I get a chance. I was really impressed that Stone Tooling (a company out in CA that I ordered my Laticrete products from when I was waterproofing my bathroom) posted a review and trial of this stuff on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2f7GOTb_Mw. Anyway stay tuned for pics in about 2 weeks (I plan to order it today)....See MoreHas anyone installed Arizona Tile New Carrara Quartz?
Comments (56)Unfortunately I didn't take any photos when I saw the slab here in SoCal. But, I don't think I would recommend the New Carrara. The slabs have been coming in quite gray. AZ tile will admit it. We were deciding between New Carrara and Calacatta Zeus. The 12" samples we got made us think for sure New Carrara veining but when we saw them in person, Calacatta Zeus was actually really lovely. Bigger movements of more subtle light grey veining. Carrara was a lot more activity with all over swirls. And again, very grey. We did slate colored lower cabinets and so happy we got more contrast with the white countertops. It also matches very well with our white upper cabinets. That all being said.. I don't see Calacatta Zeus on Arizona Tile's website any longer. I know there have been issues with the tariffs being put into place, but if you can grab some slabs, do it!...See MoreMSI vs Titan Quartz Countertops
Comments (2)Both these colors are made in china, but don't be totally taken back by that. The important thing with both brands is to check what sort of certifications each offer...there are many off brand Chinese quartz materials that do not have any certifications and may potentially have the issues that @mayflowers brought up above. I have worked with Titan Quartz many times for my clients kitchens (islands and countertops) and the calacatta venezia is a great option. This color is NSF, IAS, and SGC certified so I've been confident recommending it to my clients (plus it has a nice residential warranty)....See MoreHas anyone ever used MSI Q Stellar White as a kitchen counter?
Comments (14)Oh no the sparkle is definitely very subtle. In the 9x13 sample I have there are only a few of those sparkly flecks so its not very noticeable really unless the light hits it right. It’s not at all like those other “sparkle” quartzes. I had my heart set on it was so sad when I discovered it’s more off-white 😢 the Stonemark I assume is the same as the MSI Perla White (I feel like stonemark and msi must be the same company?) and I considered that too but up close it was just too cloudy looking, imo....See MoreHU-142297210
