Hood design dilemma - kitchen designers please help
Comments (13)Holly are you saying i have to replace all of the crown in the kitchen? I am not trying to save anything between the 2 windows where the range area is currently. I am ok with the expense and have already gotten the quotes from the cab company and for the modernaire hood insert. But for the cost I want to be sure want to be sure about not using the vv96 in that area and the staggered cabs. I know what I have is really nice, it is just not what I want....See MoreKitchen remodel design dilemma - Please help before we move ahead!
Comments (16)That kitchen makes no sense at all. You have only 3 mimsy little sections of countertop to work on (besides the island). But the island is clearly designed primarily for eating. Think of this: When you're baking or prepping a turkey, where do you put the big stuff as you work? You have no counter section big enough to hold the turkey pan and the bowl of stuffing as you fill the bird, no counter section big enough for a cookie sheet and a stand mixer. And don't suggest doing the raw turkey on the island, because there is no sink there for it and the island is for eating; you don't want raw turkey goop on the island. You have no continuous countertop flow between the sink and the stove (because of the oven), so every drippy thing has to be carried across the floor because there's an oven in the way. Slip hazard. And with the freezer, pantry, and wine/coffee bar 25 feet away, it gives the sense that the whole 625 sq. ft. space is kitchen. There's no place to put a dining table that allows it to have its own space. It will always look like a kitchen table, caught in the cross traffic between two 6-foot doorways. Do-over....See MoreKitchen dilemma!! Design Trainwreck asking for HELP
Comments (7)I must be crazy because I like the combo and also see the cabinet color in the flooring, which looks like it combines cool and warm tones. Would a white-wash stain bring down the orange? Or would that make them look pink? Your backsplash & countertop are cool, cabs warm, flooring a combo. I would wait until you're ready to do your reno/refresh so that the other finishes will all be chosen with the floor in mind. Making choices independent of each other leads to the feeling that you're experiencing. I have similar flooring. SW Divine White looked great with it. It's creamy without being yellow. If you're keeping your white appliances, it might look dingy. In that case, you'll have to go with a bright white similar to the stove. That will have to carry through to your trim. It's a cascade of changes - lol!...See MoreCondo design dilemma- This ugly thing needs help and love!
Comments (10)I think that sectional is really nice for your space. There are lots of sectional haters on this site, but many of us who have them, love them. It's a nice scale and will give you lots of lounging space, as well as seating without so many arms (as with sofa + chairs) taking up space. You could probably (it looks like it) add an armchair or small recliner if you want one, where the wood armchair is now (by the sliding door). Not sure what color you're thinking but that green in the ad is yummy and would look nice in the forest setting. Maybe an upholstered chair in a print with green an blue to bring in the water element you want - also pillows and rug to bring them all together. Have fun! eta: I see in rereading you're thinking of greige for the sectional. If you want it to be more fun than your home, I'd rethink that and commit to a color. Something that would be more fun on a dark, dreary day than greige. From your Pinterest board...look how yummy and fun this color is - this would warm you up on a cold, snowy day:...See MoreBuehl
