Can you post your entire plan?

Can you relocate the wall oven/microwave and leave that corner available for prep space? That is a really tight space for cooking and the main sink. I would not do a corner appliance.

Not a good plan at all. Terrible kitchen layout. Post the whole home in a readable format.

Lorilei, I'm not sure if you also posted at the GardenWeb Kitchen forum, but if you haven't, that's the place to post your kitchen plan along with the rest of the floor. They are wizards over there and can work magic with floor plans : ) .

I agree - post to the kitchen forum, along with a rough full plan so they can see how the kitchen relates to the rest of the spaces. I think you need help to de-compress the plan at little - right now you have all this empty space, and then the important cooking things (sink, DW, stove, oven) all crammed together so that if you have multiple cooks they'll be tripping over one another.

The nice thing about the kitchen forum is that it's full of talented people, some pros some amateurs, who will do this for you not only for free but with no expectation that you will buy cabinets or countertops or appliances from them : ) .

That corner is going to be busy, it's in between the range and the sink. Don't clog it up with an angled appliance. Most people use their ovens less than the sink, stove or fridge, so put yours on the range side at the left end, if you have to. Or it could go down on the far end of the sink run. Last bit of advice: Get a KD involved before you make an expensive mistake you'll regret.

Remember, when designing a kitchen (which should include a KD!), function must often trump symmetry. If it's a new build, sometimes both can be accomplished; in remodels, there will be compromises and symmetry should not be the winner.

That kitchen makes no sense at all. You have only 3 mimsy little sections of countertop to work on (besides the island). But the island is clearly designed primarily for eating.

Think of this: When you're baking or prepping a turkey, where do you put the big stuff as you work? You have no counter section big enough to hold the turkey pan and the bowl of stuffing as you fill the bird, no counter section big enough for a cookie sheet and a stand mixer. And don't suggest doing the raw turkey on the island, because there is no sink there for it and the island is for eating; you don't want raw turkey goop on the island.

You have no continuous countertop flow between the sink and the stove (because of the oven), so every drippy thing has to be carried across the floor because there's an oven in the way. Slip hazard.

And with the freezer, pantry, and wine/coffee bar 25 feet away, it gives the sense that the whole 625 sq. ft. space is kitchen.

There's no place to put a dining table that allows it to have its own space. It will always look like a kitchen table, caught in the cross traffic between two 6-foot doorways.

Stay away from that corner cabinet with the oven and microwave, you're waisting do much wall space by doing that.
