I move slowly these days...still have a few things to do to finish the refresh on my FR. But my mind is wandering to the library these days. Thinking about choosing a lighter beige for the walls ...still keeping the purple accents. Mostly though I am thinking about changing the window treatment. The fabric was what I showed the architect long before the house was even designed, so it still has meaning for me. And that valance was one of the hardest things I've sewn, so it's taking me awhile to let it go. I'm thinking of raising the rod to the molding, having just side panels, no valance and in the middle, to cover the wall to the top of the window, adding a bamboo or other non-operating blind. The window is small for the wall....done for symmetry on the outside as it's the front facade. So it needs something to give it more presence, especially since, directly opposite, is the large and dramatic arch topped window in the DR.

Annie, your rod appears to be in the sweet spot half way between the window trim and the crown. Why mess with perfection?

When we moved in we expanded the cement stoop to a bit of a front porch but it would be nice to have a larger spot to perch on summer evenings.

I‘ve wanted to change our fireplace mantel and surround since we moved in 9 years ago. Someday.

This side walkway is a disaster. Those railroad ties are slippery when wet.

I hope to have cement landings, stepping down. It is on the side the house, so function over form is fine.

I use this path to take out the dogs every day.

I have to let go many things in our home that I collected over the years (I'm looking at you, books!) I'm finding it difficult to do this, such as fabric and patterns that I plan to use "some day" but I have to be realistic. Recently I brought out an easy pattern and some fabric to work on - although it will go back into storage. Priorities change. Edited for clarity.

Turn my backyard into a year round covered, heated swimming pool and masseuse room complete with facilities for 24 hour cabana boy. LOL

Right now it’s just grass and bushes☹️

I'm dreaming of....on outdoor gas fireplace where the hose reel is. The gas fireplace on the other side of the wall makes it possible. Then a hot tub, sauna and resistance lap pool. (Never in my wildest dreams would THIS ever happen)

My laundry room is efficient and filled with framed photos and memorabilia, but the front loading washer right next to the door to our garage is a royal pain! Plus, I’ve discovered that I MUCH prefer top loading washers!

I would like to change my kitchen cabinets in L.A., and I wouldn't mind a new floor as well, but it's not in my budget, and I don't want to paint them.

I am not too crazy about this rug in the living room and it might be time to get new furniture and window treatment.

There is way too much stuff in this house. My collection of animal figurines, etc, and husbands collection of model cars and construction equipment are still loved, but I am hating to think of this all being dumped on my daughter to deal with when we are gone. But how to get rid of it all ....I just don't know where to start
