Most incredible newel post...

DH turned these egg cups for our Easter table!!

reusing this photo, which I love. This is carved from linden wood, and was possibly created by Michelangelo. We don't often see the back of an image of a crucified Jesus, because usually they're mounted on a cross

Viking Trail, Newfoundland. Firewood cut from Crown land. People identify their stack with a permit number.

Ash bowl turned from a tree on our property.

African bowl and stand

At a specialty hardwood lumberyard in New Hampshire - DH picking out cherry for our dining room buffet.

The Aftermath of last year's tree fall.....my neighbor reaped the benefits of firewood. The dog pen saved the garage roof (out of view to the right).

Wood house in the woods. Buck Hill F alls

Sculpture also in linden wood, by Riemenschneider in about 1520.

The wood chair in our living room

Hand turned, spalted wood vase, fungus growing on the wood gives it those lines....sitting on an inlaid wood box.

Things that kept the kids entertained on rainy days back in the 1960's

Bowl made by the DH of a good friend celebrating the end of my year as President of an organization. She was being installed as my successor and presented it to me. There is an inscription on the bottom.

Here's a wood chair that I designed, with a cerused oak finish. This was one of the best selling chairs I designed, but it was not my favorite, although I do like it. I wish I had some of them.

I'm curious about those objects lgmd_gaz shared - how do they work? The one with marbles seems like an old game I know, but the other 2 are mystifying.

The marble game is one that is still found. It just involves jumping a marble with another adjacent marble till there is just one left. The long one with the metal rings involves a serries of moves that will free the wood piece from the rings. Very tricky...I have never accomplished that. The last one is called a 'Gee Haw Whimmy Diddle'. It is a fun folk toy from the South. Do a web search to learn all about it
