Prairie Style Home FINALLY done (pics)!
Comments (18)All, Thanks very much for the wonderful comments! To answer some questions... 1. Paint in the kitchen (and living room and dinette) is Macadamia (Sherwin Williams SW 6142). 2. Countertop is granite. It's honed masabi black. 3. Paint color in office is Retreat (SW 6207) 4. The light fixtures are from Brass Light Gallery (www.brasslight.com)...See MoreRailing style for midcentury "prairie style" house
Comments (2)I really like the unique pattern the current railing has, but I agree it would definitely look much more 'true to style' and contemporary without the rounded caps and the round planter. I also like the idea of re-staining it all to match. If you keep the original style what kind of railing are you going to replace it with? And likewise if you change the style? Additionally, what are you going to replace the lattice with?...See MoreHome exterior help - Modern Farmhouse type style
Comments (32)Here's some information about sliding windows. In a storm the exposed track fills with water and if it doesn't drain fast enough water enters the house. I've seen it happen in a test chamber. The fact that they are cheap is not enough of a reason to put them in a house. And little burgers are known to cause indigestion. Life is not fair....See MoreHow can I make my home's exterior look more mid century modern?
Comments (5)I don't like the dark paint. With your light roof and light stone it looks like someone tied a dark green ribbon around the top of your house. A lighter color would be an improvement. I dislike the planters and would remove them if possible. I would remove the rail if it is not needed for safety. It is probably original but it makes the door seem inaccessible You can buy a full view storm door and paint it and the house door the same color. I love your lamp post. Do you have a porch light? I made an amateurish image of a lighter house with no planters. Do you think the stone is original?...See Morekandrewspa
