new roof via insurance

I posted some time ago about getting the insurance company to pay for replacement for an old roof, and now all is done and paid for, by the insurance company.

I think that some roofing businesses are using this to drum up business.

We were approached by one of these hard sell roofing companies and that is how we knew about this in the first place. But, we are so glad that we did not get involved with this particular roofing company and, instead just simply filed a claim directly to the insurance company.

They sent an adjuster out with his drone and we had the whole process going in about two days.

We chose our own roofer, preferring to use the one that we had used before.

Our roof was 22 years old! I would have never thought!

I am not without suspicion that some are manipulating something, somewhere and that someone is making a big score, somewhere with some of this.

But we went directly through the insurance company and it was the decision of thier adjuster. No one forced them to pay.

With the aggressive roofer salesman who first came to our door bringing this news, I was convinced that someone along the way was making some not so honest bucks from it.

But, we just filed and they paid. We are so glad that we just did it on our own and did not get mixed up with this one company that seemed more intent on being part of some deal rather that with the quality of the work or the product used. We felt targeted.

I have done sales work before and I could see that he was a bit slick and just promised too much.

When we asked for a proposal quote from him on the cost of the work, he seemed to just drop us. He was more about engaging us in his scheme, what ever it was.

Our son in Florida just had the same deal, but his roof was extraordinarily higher cost than ours in Maryland. All of his neighbors were doing the same, according to him. But the cost was so very high! I am not convinced that someone is not making a bundle from this. Our son went through one of those sales people that knocked on the door.
