Agony of 1 Paint Color for Whole House is Over. The Winner is...
Comments (17)Have you ever thought of adding trim to the drywall above your entry? You could also trim out the drywall around the door entering into that living room. If you added a sort of boxed out area above the doors they'd have more presence and be better proportioned. We did that in our house, also a new build, and boy what a difference it makes. You could keep it simple with a couple picture frame moldings painted white to "fake" extend the trim or go very ornate with fluted sidepieces. It really helps to add interest to a two story foyer....See MoreWarm white or gray whole house paint color (new construction) - HELP!
Comments (32)@funcolors wow, you might be the color angel I’ve been needing as I drive myself crazy with whites! We’re repainting all interior doors and trim (prior owners left 3 trim colors, some doors that don’t match frames, etc), so we’re looking for a nice clean white. we have BM mascarpone in our family room and love it, so had planned to expand that through the open concept downstairs as well as stairway. will simply white read too stark against mascarpone? In some areas it seems to a bit, and in bright areas it doesn’t at all. We want to be consistent through the house (and my husband doesn’t like idea of mascarpone on the doors and trim and wants a truer white) , and have ultra pure white in 2 kid rooms (their choice!), and simply white is a huge improvement over the trim and doors there now, which look almost brown in comparison. Basically my Q is: Will we regret Simply White as too stark against creamy, dreamy mascarpone? Or worse, will they clash or look like we failed in an attempt to match? thanks for any help! :)...See MoreNeed Advice: Beige Valspar Wall Paint Color for Coastal Home
Comments (2)Patricia Colwell Consulting, Thanks for responding and for your ideas. You didn't say why you wouldn't pair taupe with beachy colors. Is there a specific reason you think taupe doesn't work? Not being a pro, I'd be very interested to know and to know why I should go with a greenish gray, especially since green is a color I don't care for in large quantities (such as on walls). If it helps, I've attached two photos. The first is our previous home with the furniture and decor we'll be re-using in our new home. In this previous home, the walls were Sherwin Williams Sand Dollar (a slightly pinkish taupe). I chose those colors based on the second photo below which was the inspiration photo I used in picking the colors. As you can see, it has taupe walls and floor tile in the main area, aqua walls in the foyer, and the furniture and rugs are in blues, aquas, creams and whites, with some other colors in smaller decor pieces. As I said, I'd love to understand why you think taupe is a bad choice, and I'd love to hear from others in regard to these color choices, as well. Thanks!...See MoreExterior paint color scheme for Southeastern coastal 3 story home
Comments (6)I really like the color scheme in your post, and it fits the Beau Coast community from what I have seen on our last trip home. That being said, Nothing about this housing development is traditional Beaufort, NC or even the greater Eastern NC/outer banks in either scale of homes or colors. So, it is all up to your personal preference. Staying in the muted pastels will help you avoid needing to repaint as soon. The salt air is harsh....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
