Comments (55)wow! that is severe pruning even more than the Serena way...it's like one/third of its original size, hee-hee! Something which I have done before...but man, I never thought you'd prune it down that much! I thought I was the only one doing that major of a lopping off... But it does like very aerated and well spaced and since your Platinum is growing so vigorously I am sure it will still end up being quite the giant...especially with all the goodies that you keep feeding your roses with. My roses are bushy monsters right now so you would definitely be hacking them down, but I just let them overgrow themselves and only hack the top parts off... I figure 1st year roses I'll just let them become one massive forest...They're so dense right now, I'd have no idea where to begin! boy, I'm such a chicken-lazy one... I hate to lose that wonderful bushiness and have let my roses become fat, wide and massive......See MoreMasterbath reno started yesterday!
Comments (19)Middle of the third week of renovation and the tiling is nearly finished. They are doing beautiful work and I'm very impressed with the care they are taking. Vents had to be moved. Walls taken down, total reworking of the electric, adding additional lines for a second sink, moved the toilet to the left a few inches so it would line up with the center of the window, moved the shower drain .... I could go on with the list. Four township inspections just to get to the tiling stage! They're working 6 days a week. I'm very pleased with the selections I've made with the tile, granite, and other finishes. Last thing I'm trying to nail down is a window treatment. No rush there....See MoreTop Classic Posts from the Forums--Poll
Comments (65)For a nice chuckle, if not all-out hilarity, go over to the GardenWeb, to the Amaryllis/Hippaestrum Forum, and scroll to the thread entitled: "Amaryllis Selection and Planting". Sorry, can't make the link work. Maybe someone else could? These are the nicest people, oohing and ahhing over each others' buds and scapes, even the most pathetic ones. Which I totally understand, as forcing amaryllis bulbs is a major interest for me every winter into spring. It's a cute thread, although it does devolve into creepy-crawl-ly stories....See MoreDoes your spouse work from home (interesting detail from Sue B's post)
Comments (10)We've worked for ourselves for over 40 years. DH works from home and his truck (it stays a mess!) At one time we owned two large office buildings, so we had an office there to give him a place to go during the day. I stopped going when we moved out (took almost an hour to get there, another back). So I've been totally working from home all this time (with the exception of going into the office for a few years). He does all the legwork (checking on our commercial real estate properties, leasing, dealings with tenants, problems) and I do all the paperwork (leases, accounting, increases, etc). I've worked all morning (end of month, first of month) at the kitchen table, in my pajamas. Dogs at my feet. Cats on my paperwork. Can't beat that, especially since it's raining today. DH leaves daily, although he doesn't need to. He likes to work. He's gone by 4am. Walks, swims, showers. Checks on properties Usually goes to grocery store on way home, and is back here by 10. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later. We are slowly retiring, and should be fully retired by 2020. DH would like to travel more. Me? I'd rather stay at home. The only problem is as soon as he comes in the door, the TV is turned on. I like quiet. Especially when I first wake up... okay, all morning! He can't hear as well, so it's too loud for me. I think he gets bored sometimes, so we are trying to decided between pool or no pool, so he can entertain himself a few times a day. Working from home has always allowed us to make our own schedules. Taking time off for traveling is easy. When our parents were all living, it was extremely helpful. I think it is seen by some (one friend in particular) as being cushy, not much to do, we don't work our a$$es off. Maybe not as many hours as she and her DH (both residential RE agents) do, but we are always in working mode. It never fails on the way out of town or while traveling, we get phone calls. All times of the day. Not to mention, not being able to turn off our minds sometimes....See Moreilikefriday
