You've most likely painted by now. But if you haven't, just try out your Blonde paint in there, since you probably still have a partial can sitting around. Doesn't cost anything but a little time to try it. I kinda think you'll need something a bit different to go with the light grey. I wanted desperately to go with Restoration Hardware Cappuccino or Flax in my bath. But even though anything with gold tones clashed with my beige/taupe tile, the Cappuccino was too off and the Flax too dark. Take a look at their website to see if one of those types of colors would work for you. I would do a white terry shower curtain with a greyed brown wall color, and towels in the flax or mocha tones in there. Red

If this was for a pending resale, I'd say get rid of the wallpaper, shower curtain and carpets. Paint the vanity and change the hardware and be done with it. For 5 years down the road, you're really doing it for yourself, though. Because anything you do will not be current in 5 years. So if you hate the sink, tile and vanity, replace those, too. Getting a contractor to do it won't be too bad. It's not small like repairing 1 cracked tile. Replacing the vanity without doing the counter and floor is probably a bad idea. Chances are the new vanity isn't going to fit the counter, and there's a better chance you'll damage the counter pulling it out or putting it back. Be careful on the new toilet. We replaced all ours with low flow models. And the cheap ones are just that. They need to be cleaned almost daily because they aren't glazed properly to get a good rinse with a tiny bit of water. So either leave it, or do your research and get a good one.

What is your budget because that is going to determine what you can achieve. While I am generally in the camp of keeping "retro" bathrooms which are true to the architectural style of a home, in my opinion there is NOTHING worth salvaging in your bathroom. Pardon me for being blunt but you have what appears to be a prefab bath/tub shower - lighting that is identical to the hideous fixture I had in my builder grade 1965 condo when I moved in - a vanity that is not particularly attractive and is basic slab door - again identical to the cheap cabinets I had in my condo :-). If you have the money for it, you could gut it and install a bathroom that is more to your taste while also respecting the architecture of the exterior. I just remodeled my bathrooms and while I opted for a more traditional bathroom inspired by Art Deco, I also admired some very modern bathrooms with walnut slab doors :-). But budget is going to determine the extent of what you can do. From a practical point of view, unless you really have a LOT of money saved, it is probably best to put any major renovations on hold until you have lived in your home for awhile. This will give you a sense of what your priorities are in terms of making your home functional and aesthetic as well as seeing exactly how much it costs each month as home ownership has some economic surprises. There is nothing wrong with your bathroom at the moment - it is clean and looks in good condition and you could jazz it up inexpensively if you have other priorities.

This looks like an entire renovation if budget allows. In a perfect world, I would gut the entire bathroom, put in a shower with a sliding glass door. I would get a smaller toilet. I would get a smaller vanity. Since it is so small, I would tile all the walls up to the ceiling. We have done this in a few apartments and you never have to paint! For the short term, there are companies that can acid wash your tiles. It will be money well spent. You can then decide on budget. There are ways to save money.
