Furniture arrangement in a 15'8" x 25'10" Living and Dining room
Comments (3)The room is 15’8” wide and you need to be able to pull back dining chairs about 3’ all round for unobstructed mobility. So, If you subtract 6’ from 15’8” you are left with 9’8”….long way around saying “yes” a 9’ table would fit. To what are the sliders going? Yard, deck? And what is that 3056 space on the dining wall? In rooms short of wall space, I think two sliders may be a bad choice. Depending on what your answer is to the 3056 space, I would put the slider there; and two windows where you have the sliders. But that is just my opinion and I never put the t v in the living room. Back to your furniture arrangement and your plan, would this work? Dining area has one slider; sofa area has the other slider with sofa back to dining area, facing the wall on which you want the t v. Aslo consider a curved sofa, instead of the typical three seater. This sofa is from Wayfair. I think the ottomans come with it. You could use the ottomans with the corner chairs you want. Lots of seating for a smaller area….. sorry…my mistake the ottomans are not included…why do they show them, then, in the photo? Grrrrrrr...See MoreHelp with how to arrange furniture in this room
Comments (4)Thank you for the comments. decoenthusiaste - That is a gorgeous room!! I like the idea of swivel chairs. mindshift - I have no plans to put the TV over the fireplace. That was what I wrote about in my original post...the TV is way too large to put over the fireplace, we have a beautiful stone wall which I absolutely will not cover up with a TV, and the custom built mantel is set up too high for optimal viewing. All of those reasons are why I will NOT put the tv over the fireplace. That is my dilemna, the TV must remain mounted on that 11' wall, so I'm trying to figure out how to arrange the furniture for optimal tv viewing but also that allows the room to be open and spacious while the fireplace is still a central point of the room. arcy_gw I'm not sure which picture you are referencing? You mentioned something about the inspiration pic two up?? Not sure what you mean. And yes, we are getting all new furniture for this room so I have a completely blank slate....See Morecan someone help me on how to arrange furniture in this family room.
Comments (2)Hi Nita, For a family room with large openings like this, you might want to consider a circular/organic shaped sofa as a center piece and leave the circulation around it . Because linear sofas are difficult to align with the walls, and they would not be as successful in creating a center place where the family can gather together. Hope this helps!...See MoreFurniture arrangement help for rectangular living/dining room are
Comments (25)Update on my living room: Thank you so much for the suggestions on the previous pictures. It helped me tremendously to get an idea of what I have done so far. I just received my sofa after 5 months of patiently waiting. This was the hardest part. I'd really appreciate your ideas for this living room/ diningroom. We need to add accent chairs, coffee table, console table/a built-in shelf for the tv. I took everyone's advice here and our tv will go to the opposite wall from the sectional sofa. I'm struggling with the color scheme for the decor, accent chairs, accessories, side table, etc for the coffee table I really liked to have a nesting round, but I'm not sure if it would be too big for the space we have. Since we have a live edge dining table, it's difficult for me how to choose other furniture pieces. ps For the dining table I bought 4 chairs and was thinking I'll include two different color chairs. I had to return one char and keep three because two chairs were not fitting on both longer sides of the table. So, I decided to get a bench for the empty side instead. I hope my explanation is clear and not vague or confusing. Thank you in advance....See Morea_hopler
