Light or Dark Curtains in Living Room

Looking for opinions please. Light or Dark curtains?
For context, I am buying new curtains and have pulled the dark ones from my bedroom to just try to decide which I like better, light or dark.
I rarely pull these curtains closed, maybe during an extreme heat or cold wave. We sit back from the road a ways so not needing privacy.

Definitely the lighter color - match to wall color or wood trim color. The dark color is jarring & I think it still would be even if it were a lighter shade of dark.

@Celerygirl is absolutely right and I completely agree with her. Trellis pattern of curtains is really a good choice that can a bring style to your living room and also add color and beauty to your dining room. The big thing I like about this, is the material used in these curtains which is really nice and substantial.

Looks like a nice house! I see NO reason to paint out all that trim. I love that you are into color, and I like your items, too. Do you know who Justina Blakeney (the Jungalow) is? You can google her website to get some inspiration. You have a very neutral background. You can paint those walls, or not paint them, either way, to achieve a colorful look. IMO the first thing you need to do is install some storage for that kitchen it could be a TV wall with Ikea Besta for storage but all that clutter has to go. Where you have the bookshelves would be a perfect spot for closed storage , the TV can also be part of that. Light and airy is also decluttered . Hang a great piece of art on that empty wall in the kitchen and add a touch of black to the LR. Post pictures of your stuff please.
