Ok. . .complete and total change of plans. I tried the Prairie Sage and it looks so bluish grey at night that it felt too cold to me. Then I bought several samples and decided on LA Apple 4. But I was still having a hard time biting the bullet. . .it just didn't feel right. Now I found this. http://theoldpaintedcottage.com/pages/LivingRoom.htm (sorry it won't let me add the pics, so you have to go to the link) I absolutely LOVE this. . .and the pallet is nuetral enough that it would be easy to add punches of color with pillows and accesories as I feel the mood. It just feels more my style and she has used some things that I absolutely love. . .the scholhouse lights, the old typewriter and all the graphic type prints. What do you all think? Here is a pic of my living room. Be nice. . .it's rough. Virtually nothing is staying, but it gives you an idea of just how small it is and the general layout. And sorry about the crummy phone pic again. I have to find the usb cord for my camera. My daughter took it to Germany at Christmas time and it's still in her mess of a room somewhere.

:) Valid questions The office room will be used as a bed room. So, I dont have a "real" office room. I do work from home a lot and that dining room would be really multitasking. kitchenette is wife's demand. So, no questions asked there :) In fact, she does lot of cooking and often cooks with spices that make the home smell like a curry. kitchenette is to avoid that. With a nice vent system, that kitchenette would help us contain the smell. We are not really thinking about the house for sale down the road in the near future. We wan to build one as we want it and live next 30-40 years happily ever after.

It's the scale of the lamps that you need to concentrate on the most. I've found that most homeowners tend to purchase lamps that are too short/small. I use 28"-30" as my guide. I rarely use shorter than 28" unless maybe in a bedroom or for an occasional table, and over 30" starts to look odd in most homes. If you're looking at a lamp in person, rather than online (which has the measurements) just measure from the top of the shade down to the table. Also, purchasing inexpensive end tables and lamps first can really help change the look of a room, while you're saving up for the more expensive items (sofa, nice coffee table). Here's a before/after of a living room I did for a homeowner, where all I added were lamps, end tables and throw pillows (just reworked her other items). The end tables I used are really great, they work with a lot of furniture styles, plus they have a shelf and they're less than $100. I use them with a lot of clients! Since end tables don't get a lot of abuse, a "cheaper" one is a real budget saver. Great End Table As you can see in the Before, this furniture is large and overstuffed. A too small lamp would look silly. Using the above linked end tables and 30" lamps: You can use an end table like those (they're 24" high) and the proper size lamp, and it will work with just about any sofa you choose. Also, when choosing throw cushions I would get rid of the two red cushions on your sofa, and replace with a neutral. Maybe throw in a lumbar on one of your two chairs. And here's a room (while we were rearranging furniture) where the homeowner's furniture was not oversized/overstuffed. As you can see, these same end tables come up higher on her sofa, but still work. I can't remember how tall these lamps were, probably around 27"-28".

I lived with a floorplan almost identical to that for the last 16 years. My living room was the same dimensions as yours too. What is your sunroom was an outdoor porch on mine. I just sold the house a week ago. I would never, ever shrink that living room. It was fabulous and perfect. Choose one of the doorways to the sunroom as your entrance/exit to that room, and keep the french doors shut on the other side.
