wow, so many great ideas! I don't even know where to start! I also think that the brown doors are darkening my room (they're so ugly!). I don't really understand the fabric with starch thing...can someone please explain? I will look for decals, both for the walls and doors, and I will also add a lot more lighting to my room. I guess I want my room to look romantic and vintage, but at the same time a little modern. I guess a bit old-fashioned would go better with my furniture, don't you think? I don't want a super vibrant bedroom, but I want it to show life and energy at the same time as being serene and romantic ....do you understand what I'm saying? Another color combo might be light blue and light peach/salmon. Do you think these 2 colors would be appropriate for the type of atmosphere I'm trying to create? I chose them because they are colorful enough to show life and energy, but at the same time they are light colors, delivering the romantic/vintage feel that I want. What do you think?

The closet in my master is 29 inches deep. Then I have 3 other closets upstairs like this in my sons' rooms and the guest rooms. Those closets are 22, 23, and 24 inches deep. I'm standing in front of them now and thinking that if I had shelves on the sides and a bar across connecting them....well, if they were jammed packed like I have some of these closets then it might be annoying trying to move past the hangers to reach the shelves. It depends on how much stuff is in there. Looking at it now, I think I have actual "dead space" above my bar. There is so much room between the shelf above the bar and the ceiling that if I was to change my closet right now I might just keep the bar across and add cubbies above the bar for my bulky sweaters. I really don't find reaching into the side space to be that annoying. I noticed in my husbands closet he has his suits in the side space. He only wears suits at weddings and funerals. He also keeps the ironing board in there. We don't iron often. Apparently I never do bc I just now learned that's where we keep it. Lol. I don't think that little bit of "wasted space" is worth such a huge overhaul. As long as it's lit well and the doors are good (I can't say enough how much of a difference it was going from sliders and bifold doors in my last house to doors that swing open). And we have good lighting in the closet which makes it easier to see all the way into the side space. For the record, I hang 90% of my clothes. I only fold sweaters and undergarments. So having just hanging bar isn't so bad for me.

I have one of these on each one of the set of bifold closet doors in my basement. It’s a cabinet knob. All the regular entrance doors to the rooms have levers instead of knobs and the dummy levers were too obnoxious for the bifolds so I went with the same style. It’s subtle and they’re cheap! $1.70 at the big orange store. Since it’s the basement, I’m not as particular and left the builder grade 6-panel hollow core doors vs replacing them. But we did paint them and the trim the same color as the wall. I like the handles you posted but I wouldn’t use them on actual doors in rooms. They’ll just draw attention to them and I tend to think of Scandinavian design as more subtle and minimal in nature. Save the fun hardware for furniture or cabinets - like the kids‘ dresser drawers.

There are people who choose stained doors with white trim throughout their house. It looks ok, but not a choice I would make. I also wouldn't start mixing stained and white doors in the same rooms, unless you are really good with design and being able to make it look intentional, and not like you ran out of white doors. Why does your husband want stained doors?
