whenicit, Thanks, but I need LOTS of help! The other advantage to the 2nd layout in BR1 is that the headboard is rather high and if I put it along the wall, it won't block the windows which would probably be better. I'll see about adding seating when I get the beds assembled. We may have room and it would give me a project to scour antique shops. That is what I'm planning on doing for a nightstand in the second bedroom. A little shabby/chic, beachy. I was going to look through some "Real Simple" magazines for inspiration. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet, but I though a "weathered" table, perhaps in a fun color, would go nicely with the iron bed. ajsmama, Thank you for the suggestion on BR1. I agree that swaping the nightstand is much better. On BR2, I think I could move the dresser closer to the door. The only think I actually don't like about the dresser in that position in general is that I'm not fond of the look of it from the side, but no mater how far forward or backward it is, I'm going to have that problem... I wasnt commenting on the "florescence" of any color here - just thinking of a former neighbor's kids room in a really bright neon green that he picked out - not that I cared - he liked so why not. Just would be too much for an adult BR I think ... but bottom line is, its your place and indeed if the rest of the house is vibrant and colorful then certainly I would not wimp out in the bedroom. Lighting will do whatever you need to do, if you want it more restful and less energizing. I actually love the whole yellow-green thing and have left a trail of former apartments & rooms in that color over the years! Right now Im debating whether to keep my very old Martha Stewart K mart colors, Caneware and Meadow Way, or to venture into something new. I love them bc they are - for me- just the right balance of colorful and not overwhelming - like yellow, a little yellow-green seems to go a long way.

For my daughter’s room (which faces north east) we plan on painting it BM slip. The room across the hall (facing south west, I suppose), I wanted to do in BM Beach Glass. I painted a sample board. It’s a beautiful color, just worried it will be too dark in this room. Am also thinking about BM Silken Pine or BM Healing Aloe. The room next to my daughter’s room (further north than east) will be my son’s room. Sapele bunk bed, navy sheets. Am thinking BM edgecomb gray (LRV 63) or gray owl (LRV 67), though I’ve read that gray owl can be a minty green in certain lighting. The problem is little lighting as there is only one window. The hallway will be BM Wickham Gray. This is the one color that will stay as is because it works with the great room and the main foyer. Any thoughts / suggestions?

How about leave the beams and wood paneling natural and just paint the rest white? the wood would really pop!
