Pleass Help w Updating Exterior of our New House
Comments (8)Thank you so much for your great ideas. If we remove the entire balcony that would be a huge renovation. There's an over sized slider door that leads to one of the living rooms to the balcony. I wish we could remove it, maybe in a few years. We are thinking of adding new updated railing to it and hopefully that give it a better look. I'd love to white wash the brick! Thank you!...See MoreI need help with updating Brick Exterior

Comments (12)As several people have already mentioned (and you probably already noticed), the dark blue makes the house look top heavy. If you paint the brick you are creating a periodic maintenance requirement where there isn't any now. If you do decide to do it, make sure the right type of paint is used as it isn't regular exterior paint, and consider what is called a German schmear which doesn't coat the brick 100%, but would tone down the color. If you leave the brick alone I think the top part should be a creamy color that is close to the color of the brick - maybe BM Natural Wicker OC-1 or Clay Beige OC-11? Without being able to see it next to your brick I'm not sure whether it will look right IRL. As we always tell people when talking about paint colors you have to sample. :-)...See MoreNeed help with updating exterior + selecting new paint colors!
Comments (13)@Sabrina Alfin - Well, that wasn’t my choice - it was my SO’s decision. We are basically renovating my entire house (he’s moving in with me) - and I basically have free reign to do whatever I want on the inside. So, I let him coordinate the back side. Seemed lime a good trade at the time. i wasnt theilled when I saw the drawings/plans for the covered patio area. I discussed it with him - and since the back of the house already didn’t really represent a ”colonial” style style, I gave in to him. It just wasn’t worth arguing over. I figured that I could change the detailing by roofline + paint cedar in furture if I decided to without spending a lot of $$. This way I get the kitchen of my dreams!...See Morechloebud
