Help needed for exterior paint colours for garage and front door.
Hello! We need help with exterior paint colours for our front door and garage door. The house is west-facing, and was built in the 80s. We are looking for ideas to update the exterior. We moved in about 16 years ago, and have replaced the roof, eavestroughs and windows within the last 5-10 years.
The garage door will be replaced this summer, and we would like to keep the existing front door, but repaint it. Any ideas what to do with the porch posts to update them? We're also open to ideas to replace the carriage lights by the front door and over the garage door.

Comments (5)Kiwi I'll share a pic of our new garage doors. Our windows are also black and I had originally wanted stained garage doors but found these instead. Martin pinnacle line they function beautifully. Just installed last month. I am staining my fiberglass doors. I did the front doors and used Zar stain in moorish teak but went over it with Cetol finish that had an oak stain. So far everyone has had positive comments on the black doors. Comments (10)Uugh @Virgil Carter Fine Art! Truly my struggle. The home was designed more then 8 years ago, and since then, many of my design ideas have changed. Yes, an architect designed the house. They were terrific and worked with both my husband and I, we obviously have differing focuses. the house calls for exterior shingles, but no color is specified, No exact front door model, garage doors, etc. And even if those things had been selected 8 years ago, I am certain I would have changed my mind anyway. lol a blessing and a curse.... I suppose I can go back to the architect for guidance, for every single choice. And it seems that must be where I am headed... Comments (8)Good point about the garage doors fading away. When I bought my house they were a contrasting color. Once I painted them the same color as the body of the house, the house seemed much larger. Also, the front porch was more prominent. I think if you do this for your house, then your very lovely front porch will become the focal point. Right now, it competes with the garage doors.
