Help!!!! Front door and garage doors! Wood or paint?
Comments (5)Kiwi I'll share a pic of our new garage doors. Our windows are also black and I had originally wanted stained garage doors but found these instead. Martin pinnacle line they function beautifully. Just installed last month. I am staining my fiberglass doors. I did the front doors and used Zar stain in moorish teak but went over it with Cetol finish that had an oak stain. So far everyone has had positive comments on the black doors. We still are under construction with gravel and dirt everywhere and other than the bird poop don't collect much dirt......See MoreHelp! Exterior house color, door, stone, garage
Comments (4)I wouldn't even think about your other colors until you select your stone, and they have at least one course in place. Otherwise, you will have no reference point as to contrast and undertones. Second, for large exteriors, I have found the only way to get a handle on it is to upload a photo of your house and colorize it on one of the paint brand sites. No, you cannot choose your actual colors from this - as they may vary wildly from the chip they are supposed to represent - but it is immensely helpful in terms of how light or dark you might go, and how reversing areas of light or dark paint can produce a different feel. As for the door, I love painted doors as I feel they allow for flexibility, and if desired, the opportunity for a splash of color. Can hardly go wrong with a black door, unless the body color is also very dark. Hope that helps. Feel free to email me directly, from my website, if you get further along and would like more input....See MoreHELP.... Front door light and garage light
Comments (4)Yes DM it is an awkward spot. I appreciate your input and wish I would have thought about electrical prior to this point. We were doing a front room/kitchen/bathroom remodel, I never considered having the electrical moved for the front porch light and now it is too late. We are hoping to update the exterior in the spring so I am keeping in the back of my head the hope of moving the light....See MoreNeed help/advice on exterior paint, windows and garage doors
Comments (0)Front of house - from the street Back of house - this shows all three windows going on ... original gray on left new black french door 3 year old white picture windows Front door - this is on the side of the house and can't be seen from the street I'm a first time home owner in Denver, CO. My house was hit by a hailstorm and I'm having to make big decisions quickly. I really don't want to screw up - a lot of these decision will have to last 10+ years and each decision might influence the others. I'm very excited not to have a pink house much longer! I'm leaning towards a creamy white with black accents and wood-looking garage doors? Here's what's going on: - the roof has already been replaced and I went with a dark charcoal shingle. From the street you can't really see my roof - New Milgard French Doors were installed in the back. The exterior is black and somewhat modern - There are two big picture windows that are newish - they are white. The 2nd photo shows both - I just bought two black barn lights to over the garage doors - https://www.lampsplus.com/products/warehouse-10-inch-high-black-gooseneck-outdoor-wall-light__9c417.html Problems: - the front of the house is all garage, so the garage doors are very important. Right now they are basic white. - there's no front porch and you can't see the front door to paint it a fun color. - there's not much architectural interest to the house. Will white be too bland? - the windows in the front don't have enough space to put shutters on Decisions I need to make: - exterior paint color - garage doors. It will probably be a couple years before I can afford new ones, but I want to paint my house with new ones in mind. - windows - black or white? I love my new black French doors and I was thinking of getting black windows, but they're much more expensive. Much more. I appreciate any and all help and feedback!
