Need help to modernize a 30 year old "grand entry" staircase
Comments (9)It is a beautiful staircase. I have a staircase with spindles that have too many curves for my liking as well. Since you are putting in hardwood, the staircase might get lost if you don't add a little contrast. I would paint the spindles the same white as your trim and leave the hand rails and treads dark brown (or go even darker depending on her wood floors). I agree with B Carey about adding a patterned carpet runner....See MoreWhat lighting should I put in my entry way?
Comments (16)OK that helps. Bringing in the black will really help your overall look. Black helps "ground" a space. Here is a look that might be interesting and different for your high volume entry space. The glass globes hang from a center plate and you can design whatever look you want because each glass globe hangs independently. Believe it or not, it is pretty inexpensive as fixtures go for large, high ceiling spaces. This is a large home I did a couple years ago and with this turning staircase and a long window that faced outside, we wanted a "statement". This did it and didn't break the bank. You can get different numbers of glass balls as well. A good lighting store could help you do something like this....See MoreHow does one decorate an extremely tiny entryway like this?
Comments (28)you really have NO walls to decorate except where your plant is. there must be somewhere else for it to go with better lighting. once its moved add a large mirror like the one CITYFRAMES posted. I feel a mirror will help with the lighting and help the space feel bigger it will be hard to find something that narrow to fit on the wall by the front door. you could look for a small storage ottoman for shoes and a place to put them on and add a floating shelf above for a place to set things. and then look for some art to place above it. I did find this though...See MoreHelp me complete decor for my townhome's entry
Comments (41)I now have a very fancy laundry room with a wool rug. The runner looks very good in my second floor laundry. Here's a pic of the entry space without the rug. I'm now looking for suggestions for another rug. I can't go too light because I'll be coming in from the garage, but I would like something nice and soft to step on....See MoreLorraine Leroux
