I forgot to answer your question! No big plans. We’ll have a late family dinner. My youngest doesn't get home from practice until after 8:00! I’m thinking I'm going to make Rigatoni with Sausage and Fennel. I’ve never made it, but it has all of DH’s favorites. I’ll serve it with a salad and vanilla ice cream with balsamic strawberries. I bought heart shaped boxes of Godiva chocolates for my boys.

We have some crab legs in the freezer, I think we’ll have those with sides undetermined. I have little heart lights on the mantel, my beaded heart tree in the living room (where my beaded snowflakes were), and a few front door area decorations.

We aren‘t doing anything special this year as we leave Wednesday morning to drive out for our grandson’s wedding weekend.

You always create such a pretty, pretty table. I love it with your green chairs. And a lovely menu, KSWL. The dog is uber cute. And yes, how nice to make it a family holiday.

I love balloons. Where we had our first house, there was a tiny shop in the downtown. The proprietor did only two things; balloons and lamp repair. He was a quirky young man. He took his balloons very seriously and would make very earnest recommendations (things like, your child may be too young for xyz balloon, some find it scary). He created wonderful ,gorgeous balloon bouquets. No one took the care he did .. staggered heights, contrasting ribbon colors, etc. The best, most improbable part was that he delivered, them, I kid you not, on his bicycle. And those balloons would last and last and last. We used to buy balloons for every conceivable occasion. My DH fashioned a board with a nail in it to kill them off otherwise you could not throw them away for weeks. I miss our balloon savant.

DH and I are going into NYC for a staycation. We have lunch plans, tickets to see the Hopper exhibit,and dinner reservations at Daniel, which is where we had our (small) wedding reception. And an afternoon scoping out internship housing for one of our kids for summer. Not romantic but fun. I already have a spreadsheet and i feel like an episode of House Hunters.

We received a gift card to a seafood restaurant. I decided to use it for Valentine’s Day.

Just the two of us.

I wish we had a balloon savant around here— our balloons come from the local Party City and you have to request the ribbon color or you may end up with something that actually clashes with the balloon 🙄

Outside, a grandson’s wedding is a very exciting destination for the day after Valentine’s!

Mtn, I would argue that revisiting the restaurant where you first celebrated your marriage is very romantic 💝 And the happiness of planning or helping plan your child‘s next step in life, however small, is a kind of romance that is the benefit of shared goals and putting in the time and effort and love required to arrive at that point.

I pretty much set the same table for our Valentines Day dinner every year. As for a special meal, I don’t have one yet, as I’ve been inundated lately with coming up with a lot of celebratory meals. So, I’ll keep checking back here for ideas. Thanks for this timely thread!

We are going to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my MIL, her first Valentine’s in 62 years without my FIL. We are bringing in a lovely dinner from her favorite local upscale restaurant. DH and I will follow @Kswl’s lead and plan our own day.

Happy Anniversary! (Seems we married the same year, but ours is in December.) . The table is lovely. How fun to have multiple generations gather for the double celebration.

DH and I will keep it simple. We haven't discussed going out versus staying home. We tend to not go out on "the day" since we don't like crowds.

I had originally planned a stay at The Georgian Terrace in Atlanta with a few activities and dinner at Livingston’s but canceled because the restaurant is STILL not open for dinner since their pandemic closing. We substituted a trip elsewhere a couple of weeks ago, and, thankfully, still had the club reservations I made as a backup.

As a rule we don’t care for crowds either but over the years have enjoyed looking at all the couples celebrating Valentine’s Day and wondering about their stories and lives. The first timers are usually easy to spot 🙂

Such a beautiful table! We celebrated our 41st anniversary last week ❤️. We do not like going out on V Day. We will celebrate at home, altough I am not sure of the menu yet. We were to be out of town next week as a bit of a celebration of both our anniversary and V Day, but have set that back a week or two as my brother is having surgery next week and we are his only family nearby. Enjoy everyone!

I wasn't planning anything for Valentine's day other than our usual exchange of cards, etc. But I think you've inspired to do something a little nicer in the dining room!

KSWL. They just reopened. The new chef there used to have a PBS show.

That is very disappointing—- when i made the reservations in October the hotel assured me the restaurant would be open. Two weeks ago when I called to check on the restaurant’s status the hotel manager said it would not be open (for dinner) by Valentine’s day. They’ve been serving breakfast and lunch all along,

Well, when you do get there it should be wonderful. When we meet to choose our cooking club themes for the year, one category is chefs. One of the members liked Meese's (the new chef) PBS show but I never saw it.

I just looked at their website, they have a special Valentine’s Day dinner!
