Houzz Contributor. I'm renovating a 70's style ranch house with my husband and two little ones. I love initiating our house to home status through the messes and memories we're making here. It's the place we engage, untangle, and create, so I delight in elevating each room for meaningful and warm gathering.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we thought we’d give you something that lasts longer than flowers and can help you celebrate those you love and decorate your home.
I think we can agree, a day dedicated to loving the people in our lives is pretty sweet regardless of the mixed reviews Valentine’s Day gets. It’s a day to intentionally celebrate love in all the different ways it shows up in our lives, and maybe more than anything, it’s an opportunity to express gratitude and sincere appreciation for others.
We want to give you a few things that can be gifted to those you care about on Feb. 14. These printable Valentine’s Day art prints and cards, courtesy of Garett Mayfield, can be downloaded, printed from your computer at home and hung on your wall or given to the people who light up your life.

We’ve got two free designs that can be printed two different ways. Download and print either graphic as a small, one-sided card to pass out to friends and family or as an 8-by-10-inch art print for the wall.
Printable Valentine Cards
The small, one-sided cards print four to a page. Print out your favorite of the two designs or a collection of both, and cut them out to give to friends and family. Yes, like when you were in third grade.
The designs are playful enough to send with your kids to school, and grown-up enough to give a little love to the adults in your life.

Be thoughtful and generous. Printing these cards from home won’t cost much, so print a few extras and give them generously and unexpectedly to brighten someone’s day when it may be dim. A gesture as small as a card and a few encouraging words can show someone that he or she is remembered and cared for. These notes can be used to speak tender truths to a spouse who’s rushing out the door for work. Or sneak cards in your kids’ lunch boxes to build them up in the middle of the school day. Leave one on the keyboard of a coworker, even if it’s as casual as expressing gratitude for the coffee made in the morning for the whole team. These small gestures are why people say, “It’s the thought that counts.”
Printable Art
You can print either design as an 8-by-10-inch art print on card stock, which could be a thoughtful gift regardless of the occasion. The images look sharp printed and hanging on the wall in a matted frame. Don’t forget that this is a gift for you too, so print an extra one for your home.

Pro tip: Before you slip the print into the frame to gift, take some time to write out all the ways that person has been a light in your life on the back of the print or on another piece of paper. Go on, be their biggest champion. This is good for that person’s heart and yours. You’ll adore tucking away thoughtful sentiments like this in the frame, because of the secret affirmation that’s given when you see it hanging on the wall. Years from now (or months if you’re anything like me) when that special someone is ready to change out the frame, these words will be like a time capsule reminder of who you both were at the time.
Hover over each image and click the Download button to get the files and print the graphics to use as you desire.
This Valentine’s Day, let’s have hearts that overflow for the people in our lives.

I think my mind is off kilter. When I saw the article and the "you light up my life" without really reading the text, I was thinking - who would hang a light bulb advertisement unless it was an antique?
