Have a cedar house that needs painting and some repair. Need to decide on colors. Leaning towards keeping the white trim and going to a slightly darker color. Maybe a grey-green or grey-blue. The roof is brighter green than the picture makes it look. Advice needed: 1. What style house is this? Florida 1987 cedar siding 2. Main color knowing Ill have white trim and green roof. 3. Do I keep the shutters? If so what color? not sure if they are supposed to be there with the vertical pillars on the siding. 4. Door color, I like the reddish door. 5. What color do you paint the vertical pillars? I was thinking the same color as the main exterior, but I'm wondering what white would look like?? 6. Would you paint the patio ceilings Haint blue? I think its a myth, but could add a little extra southern character. I would prefer the Sherwin Williams paint colors as I'm using their paint. Also will take advice on landscaping, this photo was taken with google maps, will update later with real photo.

Thanks for your input. I'll definitly be doing a whiter trim no matter what color I go with. I'm considering a blue-gray as you mentioned. I tried uploading a photo. Benjamin moore whale gray. Or Sherwin Williams smoky blue. I tried uploading photos but it never works. Really frustrating. Normally I would want something to pop out of the landscape but in person there something nice about driving up to it. It's private and woody so it feels tucked in. If I went with sage it doesn't have to be this exact shade and it would have a lighter trim.

Also, what is the closest Sherwin Williams color to your suggested Benjamin Moore Timber Wolf? I tried to google it with no success. I'm still so torn, Granite Peak was always my top but maybe a Gray is what I should go with? I literally can't sleep with this hanging over my head but I'm going to try, and probably like in the past, I'll dream of color and paint yet again! jck910 & katinparadise - I so appreciate your feedback too. Do you know what Sherwin Williams paint color is closest to BM Storm by chance? When you mentioned the blues weren't resonating with you, can you be more specific on the paint samples I have on my house? I wasn't sure if you were looking solely at the mock ups or those as well? (And I know have some dark blues in there) as well as some lights, the one on the left up top (Poolhouse) is my fiance's favorite but it's been a NO for me almost immediately. Appreciate the feedback! Excellent comments. Still not sure what will be decided since it is more a family group decision...which makes it tougher. I've heard Sand Castle, Cottonwood and Summer House Beige (all Sherwin Williams colors). Tomorrow it could be something else. Depends on which way the wind is blowing. @Debbie Downer, good question on stain!! We are hiring a painter to do the job and they are aware of what needs to be done. Concerns are valid ones for sure. The older we get the less maintenance we desire to do. @wiseca9 the images you did help. I tried to do similar ones and they didn't come out as good as yours. @Jennifer Hogan and @Debbie Downer I am sure whatever gets picked once the house is painted there will be a desire to change some landscaping. That has changed through the years and I am sure it will again. It used to have bushes throughout. They can get out of hand over time. @mindshift honestly that is what is driving the possible color change. It is one of the, if not the, darkest homes in the neighborhood. It does make it easy to tell people how to find us. The trend today seems to be lighter colors. Many homes have gone to vinyl siding or painted different colors than original when built. I think ultimately once a color is decided (which it hasn't) and it is painted, it will look nice since it is long overdue. I need to post pictures here when it is all said and done.
