This is taken from the inside of the home, but I really need help with what color to paint the outside door. This is a large, historic home. The exterior is all white with navy trim around all the windows, doors, and foundation. We aren't able to repaint the exterior, but I don't know how to reconcile those colors with the stained glass entry.

This is the only photo I have of the outside of the house. You can't see the stained glass above the doorway because of the shadows. But it doesn't tie in to the colors of the exterior.

The colors in the glass go with navy & white. I would paint the door green

I think orange would look nice and bright.

I vote for green or red.

It doesn't have to be "orange" - maybe more toward a rusted color. It doesn't have to match the glass exactly, just be compatible with and set it off.

You could also consider a sunny yellow or a mustard tone.

Lovely home!! I painted my front door with Behr paint, color: Baby Spinach. I was stationed in England for several years (I am a retired United States Air Force Captain) and many of the homes there have bold colored front doors, which I love. Your stained glass has a bright green in it, which would complement a green door. I was watching a PBS episode of the British series: “All Creatures Great and Small” and took a picture of their green door (my first photo).
