I think it looks really great! That corner toilet is awesome. Maybe picking up some of the darker colors in the wall art and other parts of the bathroom will tie it all in better? My guess is once you get more accustomed to seeing such an interesting counter in your home and get over being a little out of your comfort zone you will love it! I go through the same thing when I buy a necklace or piece of clothing that is a little more bold or fashionable than my normal, and I am not talking about something outrageous either, just a little bit more fun than my boring normal.

MDLN I've thought about that design too! The main challenge would be that there is a window behind the toilet, and I'm not sure if that will work well with the steam room. I'm also torn about a bathtub. Like, would it be worth it to remove the tub for more counter space? I'm worried that some of the other renovations we've planned might damage the vapor barrier. We can't keep the current shower because in order to completely remove the castiron, they are going to need to demolish the pan. It's so small it isn't up to code either, and barely useable. I've never understood the concept of using a dirty color grout so the dirt doesn't show. If the grout is dirty it needs to be cleaned, and that is easier seen if the grout if white. Besides, this style of tile is an attempt to duplicate a marble installation. You would never use a contrasting grout on a marble installation.

I like stacked to keep things ismple and also matching grout for the same reason I sometimes do an aceent strip not centered on the long shower wall I do it vertical and use that same accnet tile for the backsplash for the vanity to adda bit of bling. I do the same pattern for both floor snad shower walls .
