Trend, as far as I can judge, is gold, copper, and flat black. Of course other finishes are widely used by most. But I wouldn't worry about trends so much. What I would worry about-is how my chosen finish going to look like. For example chrome or nickel look good both in cheaper options and in more expensive ones. Brass or gold or oil-rubbed bronze can be extremely beautiful, but then they would cost more. And if they are cheap they sometimes won't look that great. I think some level of mixing finishes is perfectly acceptable, and can ever be extremely beautiful at times, but requires confidence and good eye. But if for example you are going with dark levers, black or bronze, and the hardware in bath is pewter or nickel-I think it will work. If levers are black and hardware is brass-would also work. Now, mixing "silver" finishes and gold ones-here I'd be more careful, because that's much harder to pull off. My preferred finishes are copper, polished nickel, antique silver, antique brass, pewter..all of these usually require special order and longer lead time, just something to keep in mind. I went with polished nickel in master bath-frankly, if I knew it'd be such a pain, I'd reconsider. As for the contrast-I think bronze or black would look amazing with white doors. Unless you have doors that you dislike so much you'd rather unsee them..:) I hope to see other answers here too, choosing hardware is an interesting topic.

The mix bothers me, but it's more important what you like. Are you mixing to keep costs down, choosing what you like, or choosing what works in your space? 1) Wall sconce -- any polished chrome sconce will match; check to make sure this is the right size for your wall. 2 & 3) Kallista vs Grohe. I would choose faucets and shower trims to match. The rough-in for the shower needs to match the trims. If you have already chosen Kallista Tuxedo rough-ins for the shower, then I would choose the same for shower trim and lav faucets. The Grohe faucet that you selected is a 4" centerset; Kallista faucets are widespread. Which do you need? If you need a centerset faucet, then reconsider your shower fixtures; they don't match the Grohe. 4) I'm clueless about the shower hook for loofa. The shower doors that I purchased came with pre-installed shower door handles and clamps in polished chrome. Check if your shower door vendor includes these. The shower door handles that you posted look like polished nickel instead of chrome. 5) Kallista Tuxedo offers matching towel bars and robe hooks; they are pricey, but beautiful. Decide whether you are going with Grohe, Kallista. or something else before choosing accessories. 6) Pulls and knobs for cabinets -- these can be chosen last, after everything else is done. Match the shape to your faucets. I don't think the ones that you posted particularly match the shape of either the Grohe or Kallista Tuxedo.

Thanks all for the input. I was sweating the black and gold and then the added nickel on just the door handle and hinges. Totally throwing me off. Have picked out so much with this house and, of all things, the hinges are the things tripping me up. You all gave the answer I was hoping and needed to hear.

I think you can mix door panel arrangement if it follows a system, having lived in a couple of very old houses (pre Civil War), that had more than one door style in the house. (These were also very large houses with 4 stories, so distinct public and private areas.) Most 20th century houses don't really lend themselves to the systematic approaches to trim levels like these older houses. But I think that there is one way to make it work, and that is to have a simpler door on closets inside rooms. So one style on the room entry doors and a simpler style on closet doors. So you could do a panel door of some sort on the room door and a simpler panel or slab on the closets. But it has to make visible sense that you can discern easily rather than a mish mash. I think a "shaker" door has actually become "modern" or "contemporary", (but it is not MCM), just through it's almost ubiquitous use in current homebuilding practice. A flat recessed panel with minimal sticking is the Default door for virtually all non-"traditional" new construction in my area. But I don' t think your plan of doing one style in one wing of the house and one in the other is systematic and I don't think it will do anything except make the house look like you remodeled it at two different times and you weren't paying attention to what you picked out between jobs. Either a slab door is too boring or it's not too boring, either a multipanel door is too elaborate to use or it's not. It's not something that is or isn't depending upon which room in the house it is. Pick one and stick with it. is probably the best option. Just liking more than one thing is not a good enough reason either. I could find a dozen door styles that I would like in some sort of context, but that doesn't mean I should use one of each if I have 12 doors. You don't wear one of each shoe, because you can't decide between two, you generally don't wear the patterned top of one suit with the different patterned bottom of another because you like both. A house is the same way. In fact, maybe stricter, because you can go home and take off the mismatched outfit at the end of the day.
