Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! I can't explain it but I am just really glad to see a loss after 4 months of very slow progress....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/8
Comments (21)This past week I have refocused on my health goals and am getting back into my regular exercise and eating routine. I am still up a few pounds from the holidays and I'd like to work on that. I have been swimming, running, biking, and lifting weights. My sinuses are finally better so that's helping too. I am struggling a bit with energy levels when I'm exercising, though I'm not certain exactly why. On the eating front I'm trying to be more mindful about real hunger vs boredom/mouth hunger. I am continuing IF, cycled in a 36hr fast this week. One thing I notice is that my skin looks amazing after a fast. Some of my reasoning for doing fasting is the autophagy/healing component (beyond caloric intake reduction) so it's kind of nice to see something come of that (at least in my eyes even if no one else can see it). Also in the summer I kept myself quite busy with yard work and projects and I've been feeling a little bored so I'm tackling some indoor projects like tediously steam cleaning every single grout joint in the miles of tile in my house. It's not really exercise, but it's still activity and I think it's good for me to keep occupied and feeling like I'm accomplishing things outside of my career. On the sheet pan front, I do sheet pan veggies all the time and sometimes full sheet pan meals. For super simple, I chop up veggies (commonly brussel sprouts, cauliflower, red onion, broccoli, sometimes delicata squash or sweet potato, bell peppers, green beans) and toss with olive oil and salt and pepper and roast for around 20 minutes at 400-415. I frequently do sheet pan Tandoori tofu and vegetables from this website, but it looks like they have a whole page of 25 sheet pan meals. Thought others might enjoy some of these too. https://www.feastingathome.com/10-sheet-pan-dinners-to-make-life-simple/ I recently ordered some dried guajillo chiles online because I really want to make this pinto posole and I couldn't find them at my local grocery store. Lately I've really been feeling soups and brothy recipe for warmth in the chilly winter. I haven't made this yet, but I'm looking forward to making it in the near future. https://cookieandkate.com/pinto-posole-recipe/ @nicole___ I'm very jealous of a clear running trail. That sounds lovely! My husband doesn't like to run with me, but when we take walks together we share a single pair of earbuds too. I love it. @Funkyart you're so thoughtful in taking care of your nephew. What a wonderful aunt. @RNmomof2 zone 5 skiing is such great exercise! That's wonderful to have done a ski trip. I'm impressed that you've been able to shed the few holiday pounds already. Well done! @Sueb20 and @gsciencechick great job keeping up with the exercise! I think it' so great for our health to keep ourselves moving. Strength, flexibility, cardio vascular health. All of it! I'm really impressed with how well everyone is taking care of themselves individually. Love feeling motivated by this group. Thanks!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of Oct 1, 2023
Comments (31)I missed a bunch of updates this week-- my apologies! Welcome back, Sue! I seem to do better with a "bigger" or normal lunch and a light dinner too. It is hard though-- I need to not only have fast stuff stocked but I also need to have the time (I have had meetings over lunch or that cut into lunch). I am making a pot of soup now for at least the first part of the week. Dinner may be an apple and pb or a salad.. or more soup. GS, wow-- nice haul there! Congrats on the toning and the lost lb! I am going pretty well on eating-- and poorly on water and exercise. I am hoping things settle down in a week or 2 so I can get into a routine. I am fairly good with routine once it is established. I was going to make a turkey sausage and zucchini soup today-- but the zucchinis had gone bad in the middle (or they were delivered that way and I didnt notice). I didn't feel like sending a new order in so I adjusted based on what I had in the pantry ... I added black beans, chopped red peppers, and dried chopped hatch chilies & spices ...to the turkey sausage, mirepoix, garlic and chopped tomatoes. I may add frozen white corn-- but not sure it is necessary. Don't you love that about soup? You can easily pivot and make something delicious with whatever you have on hand!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/28/2024
Comments (16)Sorry for everyone who is dealing with illnesses. It is so difficult to keep on track when stuff comes up. Gscience you have my admiration for focusing on your exercises. For many years with my physical struggles I used my health problems as an excuse. No more. As far as I'm concerned never again. But I really do believe we all have to decide for ourselves whether we are going to struggle with this or use our energy for something else. I hope this procedure you have done was helpful and took care of the problem. Hugs to you. Hugs to everyone. For me it's the cold I had for two and a half weeks. It has finally loosened it's hold on me. Also the stupid migraines. B2 vitamins seem to be taking the edge off so hopefully they will work as well as the flax oil did that took my migraines away completely for those 5 years. Exercise is going well. I am generally sticking to it. I do the exercises three times a week but I also don't do it exactly on the same day some weeks. Yesterday I was playing catch up for Wednesday's exercise day. I will likely fudge it and do it later tonight for my Friday so I don't have to do those kind of exercises on Saturday and Sunday. I truly love my weekends off. So in general with the exercises intermittent fasting and trying to get a handle on my health things are working. I have to watch my cheese intake darn it. I love cheese. It settles nicely on my hips.. Best to everyone! Have a great weekend! I do think of you often; I'm just not a very good writer.. still know that I'm here sometimes way too silently supporting you all....See MoreFunkyart
