I'm also wondering if the 15" deep wall cabinets won't be problematic with many over-the-cooktop microwave ovens, most of which specify maximum cabinet depth to be 13" or 14", even Whirlpool's (who makes Ikea's appliances). A deeper cabinet may interfere with the door swing at the far left that expects to extend beyond the adjacent cabinet door when opened and may infringe on the space slightly. With regular exhaust hoods that won't be a problem, but I wonder if some will look a bit ingrown surrounded by cabinets that extend 3" deeper from the wall than the hood was designed for. Many I've seen have surfaces around the sides and/or top that are designed to be flush with the surrounding cabinet fronts, which are normally 12" from the wall not 15". It appears the base cabinets will be offered with several top drawer depths. Is one of these going to be 6" tall to match many dishwasher panels on those that take cabinet panels but have exposed controls? (as well as many 30" undercounter oven control panels). Or are they trying to match an increasing number of dishwashers that have 4" tall panels rather than 6" with those shallow drawers? With either the Euro or US systems, I don't get what's so great about shallow drawers nestled within deeper drawers. Just seems you'll need to open two drawers to get at the lower section instead of one if you used separate drawers.

Hi everyone - I am also using Section cabinets to create a console for my home office, and then I'm using "Semihandmade" to create the custom drawer / door fronts. I am having huge concerns however with the filing cabinet solution. The Section cabinet frame I am using for the filing cabinet is 18W X 15D X15H. I also bought the Medium Maximera drawer. My issue is that the back of the Maximera drawer is only 5 1/2 inches tall and i need it to be at least 10 inches tall so I can screw a hardware filing cabinet mount into the front and the back. I'm not a fan of placing in plastic or cardboard items that fit inside and hold the files, I know it works well, but I'd really rather this be more professional and have the metal glides. This would be easy to install if only the back was at least 10 inches. Does anyone have any ideas on how to increase or extend the height of the back of the Maximera drawer? They don't make the Deep / High Maximera drawers for the 15D and 15H - so the Medium drawer is my only solution. I also have to use the Maximera drawer as "Semihandmade" is using these drawers as the template to create my custom drawer / door fronts. Thus, it seems my only option here is to figure out how to increase / extend the height of the back of the Medium Maximera drawer. Any suggestions would be beyond appreciated, thank you!

The stainless steel attaches differently from all of the others. I compared the installation pdfs, and all of the fronts - like yours - are placed squarely on the front. The stainless steel - probably due to the weight - is bracketed over and around the sides. So it poses a problem on the inside of the drawer. The panel bracket is shorter than the BLANKETT overhang (for lack of a better description) but the BLANKETT pull still has to fit over the stainless bracket, and it just doesn't work. I just received an email from IKEA customer service and they said BLANKETT pulls don't work with SEKTION at all. Now, that is a lie, because yours work perfectly! So, I am in one of the IKEA nightmares I have heard about. I will take your suggestion to my contractor. Hopefully it will work. I read in another post that someone did that to their 15" BLANKETT pulls.

Hi, I have an order in at Scherrs right now, based on your blog, love what you did! I have the same question as Shelby above from April 10, 2020. Did you get your Caesarstone through ikea, if so do you remember the name/color? IKEA is telling me they may be having a sale on countertops next month. Also, the marble behind your cook top, have you had any issues with oil splashes effecting the marble? Lastly can you give me the height of your backsplash leading up to the little shelf?Thx for your time and great info.
