anyone have black and stainless appliances in kitchen?
Comments (6)First of all, in my opinion, black appliances + stainless hood would look just fine. Secondly, many stainless steel ranges have as much black showing as stainless. I think they would marry the two colors of the other appliances quite well: Finally, I think your idea (SS range+hood, black ref. + DW) would also look just fine!...See MoreBlack or Stainless appliances in Old World/Tuscan style kitchen?
Comments (36)You can use magnets on some stainless--my frigidaire will hold magnets. How much the finish shows fingerprints and smudges and how it is to clean varies. My frigidaire refrigerator and range don't show fingerprints badly and are super easy to clean--quick wipe down with a damp rag gets the looking pristine again. My Bosch dishwasher is a whole different story. So if keeping the appliances looking clean is your concern, it is possible to get stainless that is easy--easier than the old textured white appliances I have had in the past. If you just want a vote, I'd go stainless. I don't love stainless (we have it because I do love induction cooking and at our price point, stainless is the only option). But my mom has black appliances and I really dislike how they seem to loom and suck the light out of what is a fairly big space....See Morecopper sink with stainless steel appliances
Comments (14)Wow, another thing I love/hate about GW - it always makes you think and sometimes second guess! I will have creamy cabinets (with a slight coffee glaze) and a cherry island. My copper farmhouse sink is sitting right beside me and I am in love with it and it isn't even out of the box. However, I did not even give a thought to appliance colors - thanks for that!!!! I will have a stainless steel w/black double oven on the wall opposite the sink. The fridge/freezer will have panels. The cooktop is black w/ss trim and the microwave is ss built-in on the same wall as the sink. My dishwasher is the one throwing a wrench in the whole thing because it is only a few years old and so we have decided not to replace it. I thought I had bought one that could accept a panel - but I didn't so that will be black and right next to the sink. Anyway, my point is I think SS appliances will be fine. I never considered that they wouldn't. I sort of consider them as neutral. Take a look at the finshed kitchen blogs under copper sinks. There aren't alot of them but they will give you an idea of what others have done. Also, I think if you can find hardware that has some copper elements to it, that would be a nice tie-in with the sink. Now, what are you doing about a faucet? That's where I've been spending my time lately! Good luck....See MoreBlack Stainless Appliances
Comments (26)Thanks everyone for responses. We ended up purchasing a dishwasher and wall oven/micro combo in black stainless. The electric cooktop is black with stainless accent. And the hood will be stainless. Now what to do about the fridge? Even the stainless fridges have black accents. And the black stainless have stainless accents. As long as we stick with similar handle styles, can we get away with stainless? Or would a black stainless fridge look best? Thoughts?...See MoreRachiele Custom Sinks
