Need help please! Updating wall color for fresh look with travertine
Comments (4)Debbie. we did go ahead with Panda White. Although my color specialist suggested walls, trim, shelves, and cabinets all be painted in the same color/different sheen, we painted trim and doors Sherwin Williams Pure White in semigloss...and glad we did. Next project is kitchen cabinets and I’m not sure to do Panda, SW alabaster or Ben Moore white dove. We need to choose the best quartz counter first..that will relate to travertine floor says my designer. Then pick a cabinet paint. Here are some pictures. I‘m waiting on some new furniture.....after many, many years and new drapes. 😊. i think my Color designer is definitely right in saying that new paint can’t do all the heavy lifting. That is where decorating helps it all come together. Because travertine has a pink undertone...hard to tell sometimes...paint with a green undertone will only exaggerate this difference. That may be why you don’t like Carrington Beige. Look up the designer, Carla Aston. She has a great blog on how to update your space with travertine. Lots of good ideas and pictures from other commenters. Good luck!...See MoreHELP selecting a colour to paint the vanity/walls for updated bathroom
Comments (3)As mentioned above the tile floor is gonna be the "issue" only because it would really limit the colors on the wall or even the vanity.. are you looking to only paint or is this gonna be a full remodel?...See MoreNeed help w/new tile & paint to update bath w/existing shower tile
Comments (7)@calidesign Wow, I really like that dark slate. I agree about not trying to match, but it's difficult to find a dark tile that isn't either a very warm brown or too cool/grey. Any thoughts on the size & shape of the tile? Was thinking of something like an 8"x12" in an offset pattern to get away from all the squares, or is that too busy? Unfortunately bought the vanity before they decided the floor tile had to be removed. Bath opens to a hallway where we have to replace the 100 yr old oak flooring...probably with a neutral brown shade (similar to vanity color) since the cabinets in the kitchen/living area (one big room) will be charcoal grey shaker. Thx for your advice!...See MoreNeed help with updating exterior + selecting new paint colors!
Comments (13)@Sabrina Alfin - Well, that wasn’t my choice - it was my SO’s decision. We are basically renovating my entire house (he’s moving in with me) - and I basically have free reign to do whatever I want on the inside. So, I let him coordinate the back side. Seemed lime a good trade at the time. i wasnt theilled when I saw the drawings/plans for the covered patio area. I discussed it with him - and since the back of the house already didn’t really represent a ”colonial” style style, I gave in to him. It just wasn’t worth arguing over. I figured that I could change the detailing by roofline + paint cedar in furture if I decided to without spending a lot of $$. This way I get the kitchen of my dreams!...See Morecat_ky
